Money Cannot Buy Happiness
Do you ever feel like there’s no purpose left in life? That feeling occurs when the happiness inside of you goes away. For many people, money is the most important thing in life next to food to eat and a home to live in. Though for all of these, you need money. That’s where the phrase “money can buy happiness” comes from. Just because money can buy the basic things you need in life, many people think that money can just as easily buy happiness as well. Although you may have all the money in the world, most of the time you can’t have happiness. “As much money and life as you could want! The one thing most human beings would choose above all is money. The trouble is, humans do have a knack of choosing precisely those things that are worst for them.” J.K. Rowling presented this quote. She means that above all most people would want to choose money over happiness. The trouble is that, though you may want money, you must know that happiness comes first, then comes money. Happiness and money are like two repelling magnets. You can get one or the other, but you can’t get both at the same time. “If you enter this world knowing you are loved and you leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with.” Said by Michael Jackson. When you are wealthy, you buy friends. These friends aren’t true friends. These people just come to you because of how rich you are. They are selfish and don’t care about you at all. They only care about the money, and what’s in it for them. These fake friends show no affection toward you, making you feel like the world revolves around you. When you get sick, your fake friends aren’t going to comfort you and show you any affection. At the most, they would show you a look of sympathy and walk away. For this reason, money cannot buy happiness. A second reason why money can’t buy happiness is because when you get too much money, you r mind starts to shut down. What I mean by this is that you don’t want anything else, and you don’t think about anything other than money. Without getting more money, you would feel like your whole life is done. You completely lose the love and happiness that you shared with others who would be in great pain looking at you. When you get so full of yourself you feel like there’s no other purpose in life other than earning money. At this moment, thoughts of suicide start to creep in to you, killing the good memories and thoughts that were once drilled into your head.
“While money can't buy happiness, it certainly lets you choose your own form of misery.” Groucho Marx stated this quote because he wanted to say that when you get more money, you would get so full of yourself, that you bring misery upon yourself. Many Hollywood stars have ended their lives this way. Do you want to too? Therefore money can’t buy happiness. Money can’t buy happiness because of the amount of drugs you take to gain happiness, but in the process only make yourself more depressed. Money cannot buy you happiness, but can negatively consume your life in many ways, which wouldn’t make you happy. Some things that money can do to you is make you take drugs. When you get full of yourself then you lose your happiness. When you lose your happiness you start to take drugs because you think that drugs can fill your happiness. Many Hollywood singers like Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley, were known all around the world. They were so famous and had millions of dollars but they lacked one thing, that was happiness. They got so full of themselves they started to take drugs to ease the pain. Michael Jackson never liked playing the piano, but later when he was at his peak in singing he started playing with the piano furiously, day and night. When people asked him why, He said “ The only reason I play the piano is to distract me from thoughts of suicide.” Many singers were like Michael Jackson but not all wealthy Hollywood singers took drugs. Some singers knew how to be content with what they have, and keep the love for family. That is true happiness. Where you are happy with what you have and are not greedy for more. Therefore money can’t buy happiness.
Though I also need to consider, that people can feel happy when the money they have can buy them cars and property. Money can also make you feel important and make you famous, but only for a while. Money can buy food and shelter, the basic things in life. Therefore money can buy objects that can make a person happy. I need to consider that money can buy many things that may make a person happy.
In conclusion, money cannot buy happiness because of the environmental effect toward your friends and family, the personal effect it causes you, and the amount of drugs that is involved. The environmental effect is the effect and impact in your friends and family. They would feel depressed from the pain that is inside of them. The personal effect is the effect in you. The impact on you is the fake friends that you develop, that only care about the money, and what’s in it for them. Then you start to feel like there’s no purpose for you left in life. The drug abuse is the amount of drugs you take to cover up and fill the emptiness inside of you. I would like to conclude in saying that even though money can buy you many things, money cannot buy happiness.

“It seems only natural that happiness should flow from having more money. Even if they don’t admit it, people still behave as though it were true. More money means you can have what you want and do what you want.” (Dean 2008). Wealth and possessions do not equal happiness because no matter how much money and gems you have you can not buy feelings, but only comfort, also if you are working hard for more money you are experiencing more stress and negative emotions.…

Although there will always be those who say money cannot buy happiness, money can lead to personal satisfaction, which in the end leads to happiness. Happiness can be created through the things that one owns, also by what they have compared to others around them. As said in the article, “The Happiness of Pursuit,” one helps obtain happiness because “money can boost happiness if it allows people to obtain more of the things they need and desire” (qtd. in Kluger). This is proven through the fact that when people get what they want, or get more of the things they enjoy, then they become happy, and money can be used to get those things. It can also be argued that based on the amount of money one makes, their happiness can either be increased or decreased. In an article from the Time Magazine, according to Belinda Luscombe, “the more [people make], the more they felt their life was going well.” If it is true that the more money people make, and the better they feel pertaining to how their life is going, then they will definitely be happier depending on their monetary wealth. With the constant arguing back and forth of people as to whether money makes people happy, sad, or has no affect, it is apparent that money does affect people’s lives. Money can both help people get what they want, also help make their lives feel as if they are going well, which are both…

People would say that extra money would always be nice to have so they are able to go out and spend it on maybe a nice dinner or something they have wanted to buy for a long time, but the research shows that people that have a household income of $150,000 are just barely happier than people that have a household income of $75,000. My opinion on if money can buy happiness, is that it most certainly can. Plain and to the point if you have more money you can obtain more in the pursuit of happiness. I consider the question to be a quibble because who in there right mind would not be considerably happier if there financial status was ameliorated.…

How much we earn from money and our emotional state, information and support show the correlation between those factors, determining that money can buy happiness. “$76,000 in Minnesota is reaching the “happiness benchmark” ” (Short). Which means earning more than $76,000 as a yearly salary wont improve how individuals feel day-to-day. Although this income goes towards education, security, housing, and bills of standard living, etc. what’s left over is for people’s entertainment such as material or experiential things either way money is a motivator. Having goals to reach and opportunities are what people look for, primarily having more possibilities and choices you have is an accomplishment (Short). While V, Jayaram says happiness is what you can’t buy in stores, like love, dreams, friends, and time. Arguing with this point you need to achieve again the “happiness benchmark” to be financially stable and comfortable to fulfill ones dreams in life…

If money doesn’t buy happiness, what does? Many people believe that having more money is going to make them happier in life, but does money really provide true happiness? After reading the passage “Yes, Money can buy happiness,” by John Tierney, explains that people are more often to be happier when they spend money on others rather than spend money on themselves. In my opinion many people believe having more money will make their lives happier and free of all worries. In my life money has provided food, clothing, and shelter our basics needs in life but I came to a conclusion where my satisfactory is not enough. I complain that I need more money and that it will solve all the solution to my problems. But in reality money is never going to be enough to buy my happiness in life, because the more we have the more we need and want. For example, I went shopping to the citadel outlets with my family, less than a few hours I spend about four hundred dollars. I looked at other people and I wish I had more money to spend in order to feel enjoyment and more satisfaction. Then, I look into my partner eyes and say to him, I realize with money you can become selfish, destructive and greedy but on the other hand it can help you discover a world you never knew because we all know money can open the doors to many objects in life. Such as, having the opportunity to explore the world, to have all the materials in life. Furthermore, I do agree that buying does bring happiness to everybody in that moment. After, that I disagree it would bring 100% happiness in life because money does not buy love, passion, pureness, and what life is all about. In the end it all depends on your approach to life and how you see money and the relationship with it.…

Money can get you materialistic items, which can make a couple of people happy. However, not everyone needs to live luxuriously to enjoy their life. On the other hand, some rich people live miserably with depression because no one loves them for who they are, instead everyone wants them for their money. For example, in a story I read called “ El mantel blanco” a woman marries a rich man, but she didn’t love her husband, she had only married him for his money and because she was pregnant from him.…
