Monologue From The Crucible
(A deep, lush forest situated on the outskirts of Salem, Massachusetts, during the spring of 1692.
Trees are scattered about, with dark green leaves that hang down gracefully from the trees branches. A slight breeze sweeps through the forest, causing the leaves to sway and a chill runs through the air.
When the curtain rises, Tituba, Abigail, and Betty are cautiously walking into the forest, frequently glancing behind them to make sure that they aren’t being followed.)
Tituba: Come now, children.
Betty: (Happily looking around.) Where are we going in the forest? And what is all that stuff you’re carrying for?
Tituba: I show you. We get there soon.
Abigail: (Nervously glancing around her.) Are you sure this is a good idea? I can’t be caught doing anything crazy out here or my dad will be furious. …show more content…

Abigail: (With trepidation and uncertainty.) Okay, well, if you say so.
(The group arrives at a small clearing in the forest. There is a fire pit in the center with a cleared path circling around it. Tituba sets down a bag she was carrying and takes out a kettle, which she set places on a patch of grass.)
Tituba: Today be like a- a ceremony.
Abigail: What are we having a ceremony for?
Tituba: For whatever you want. What ails you dears?
Abigail: What ails me? Why should I tell you?
Tituba: We can try to fix it. I shall help you.
Abigail: (Her eyes widen in interest.) How?
Tituba: You shall see. But first, girls, we should celebrate this beautiful day given to us by the Lord!
Betty: Yes, yes!
(Tituba stands up from kneeling down by the kettle. She begins to dance.)
Tituba: Betty! Abigail! Come and dance!
Betty: Um,
