Monologue The Giver
“Hmm”, I was looking at myself in the mirror, “this can do”. For my first workday I was contemplating what to wear and after debating between three outfits I have finally decided for one. It was important for me to make a good first impression and now I wore a white blouse with a black knee length tube skirt, a blazer, and black pumps. I tied my hair into a neat high ponytail and wore some makeup. “You can do this”, I gave myself a once over in the mirror, nodded in satisfaction, turned around and head to the kitchen for some coffee before starting the day.
There I found a note next to a croissant and a large cup of coffee. I read the note which brought a smile to my face, "Good luck, baby. I love you!" It was from Jonas, my fiancé. We have been together for more than 3 years. I remembered the day of the proposal. We were at our favorite restaurant and after the waitress brought us the dessert, Jonas grabbed my hands and started talking softly. Then he knelt down and asked me to marry him. It was such an overwhelming moment. I was over the moon. Jonas was my everything and I couldn’t imagine a life without him. So without any hesitation I accepted his proposal.

When I knew where I would work, I had checked out the building as well as all the subway stations I had to take and found out that it was around ten minutes from where I lived.
At the moment I stopped in front of a modern office building with two glasses spinning doors, my hands were shaking slightly from nerves. Taking a deep breath, “Calm down, Lily.” and walked in through the glass doors. Once I made it to the front desk, the receptionist looked up at me, “Good Morning, I’m Liliane Michels, the assistant of Mr. Steffens. I’m looking for Mrs. Müller.”
“Hello, Miss Michels. Please, hold on a minute.” he said and calling someone on the phone, “Mrs. Müller is on her

Blood is a fascinating hue. It’s sometimes crimson, scarlet, ruby red, or even bold red. Crimson is the stain that’s painted on my fingers, since I just accomplished a mission-to murder Simon Krell, who continued torturing his family members on a daily basis. Although he continued being a dangerous man, it was so simple to kill him that it occurred to be laughable, all the acting skills I needed was to pretend to act alike his maid and suddenly shoot the filthy person. As I laughed, my storm eyes gazed at the glowing sky that had waves of gleaming dots on it. A silver ellipse remained framed in the inky sky, supported with millions of winking balls of fire.…

The American writer, Lois Lowry in her novel, The Giver, claims that in creating a utopian society the creator manufactures a dystopia, since the individuality of a person contradicts the creator’s idea of a utopia. She develops her claim by first creating a utopia where the residents lack individuality conforming to the criteria of sameness, then presenting the absence of intense emotions, then convey the reader’s thoughts of the utopia by placing a main character who gains his emotions and individuality, and finally declares that the utopia lacks morality spawning a dystopia. Lowry’s purpose is to criticize conformity in order to state that to enjoy life one must suffer to appreciate life. She establishes a thoughtful tone for the audience…

In the second grade, I had a crippling fear of my teacher, who loved to play, “Let's pick on all the students who aren’t raising their hands.” In my imagination, school was where carnivorous teachers scanned the classroom, looking to slaughter the most helpless creatures. And it seemed like this one had clear intentions of mounting my prized head on the wall. This meant that I suffered from a chronic case of rapid heartbeat, timid eye contact, and tense palms that left imprints of red crescent moons on my thighs.…

The Giver by Lois Lowry was written in 1933 about a dystopian society, in which the memories of pain, war, hatred, hunger, conflict, and sadness have been eliminated from society, and placed onto a single man, called “The Giver.” The protagonist, Jonas, has the ability to receive these memories and is charged with the task of taking all of the memories from the current Giver, because he is getting old. During this process, Jonas realizes that the society he grew up in is far from perfect, and that something needs to be done to reform the society. Eventually, he and The Giver formulate a plan for Jonas to escape the city, and break the “memory barrier,” which would return all of Jonas’ memories of the old world to everybody in the society.…
