Côte d'Ivoire, also referred to as the Ivory Coast, is the world’s largest producer of coffee and palm oil! It is located in an alignment of countries in southern West Africa, near the Equator. With over 60 indigenous languages and native ethnic groups, Côte d'Ivoire is a very biologically diverse nation. Its mountainous upper half and a southern half of grasslands make it a very glamorous country. Ivorians, with an average lifespan of 41, try to make the most out of their lives by dancing, singing, and completing rituals as long as possible.
Ivory Coasts’ physical landforms are much different than those of any other country! The north has a long, stretched plateau with many flat grasslands. The southern parts include grassy savannas and coastal forests. The middle regions are mountainous, home to the country’s tallest mountain, Mont Nimba. The mountain stands 1,752 meters above sea level. It lies on the Ivory Coast - Guinea border. There are many banks and rivers leading into the Gulf of Guinea. One such river is the Bandama Blanc. The people of France found lots of ivory in the country, which is how it got its name, which literally translates to “the coast of ivory” in French.
Positioned west of Ghana and east of Liberia, Côte d'Ivoire is in West Africa. To put that into perspective, the country is south of Algeria and west of Nigeria.
Ivory Coast holds status as a “military government”. The Head of Government is the Prime Minister Daniel Duncan. The head of the Judicial Branch has no term limit. He or she can choose when they would like to leave the Ivorian office! The executive branch of Ivory Coast holds the main governmental power. The goal of their government is to “promote economic and political coordination”. The Ivoirian government is 58.5% in charge of their economy.
