THE TRAVELERS AND THE PLANE TREE
Two men were walking along one summer day. Soon it became too hot to go any further and, seeing a large plane tree nearby, they threw themselves on the ground to rest in its shade.
Gazing up into the branches one man said to the other:
“What a useless tree this is. It does not have fruit or nuts that we can eat and we cannot even use its wood for anything.”
“Don’t be so ungrateful,” rustled the tree in reply.
“I am being extremely useful to you at this very moment, shielding you from the hot sun.
And you call me a good-for-nothing!”
All of God’s creations have a good purpose.
Islam teaches us that we should never belittle Allah’s blessings.
LEARN FROM MISTAKES
Thomas Edison tried two thousand different materials in search of a filament for the light bulb. When none worked satisfactorily, his assistant complained,
“All our work is in vain. We have learned nothing.”
Edison replied very confidently, “Oh, we have come a long way and we have learned a lot. We now know that there are two thousand elements which we cannot use to make a good light bulb.”

A man with his donkey carrying two sacks of wheat was on his way to the market. After a little while he was tired and they rested under a tree.
When he woke up from his nap he could not see the donkey and started searching for the donkey everywhere. On the way he met a boy, he asked the boy, “Have you seen my donkey?” The boy asked, “Is the donkey’s left eye blind, his right foot lame and is he carrying a load of wheat?” The man was happy and said, “Yes, exactly! Where have you seen it?” the boy answered “I haven’t seen it.” This made the man very angry and he took the boy to the village chief for punishment.
The judge asked, “Dear boy, if you had not seen at the donkey, how could you describe it?” The boy answered, “I saw the tracks of a donkey and the right and left tracks were different

His task is to find and rescue Fiona (the object) and bring her back to Lord Farquaad (sender) so they can marry and then Shrek can get his swamp back. The sender is the king because he sends Shrek out to find Fiona. I think the receiver is Shrek, because he gets the objects, his swamp and when he and Fiona marry each other. The helper in the movie is Donkey because he helps Shrek accomplish his goal. The opponents are the dragon and Lord Farquaad because they try to keep Shrek from achieving his goal and receiving his…

The admission of this patient has proven to be yet another impulsive action made by desperate parents. This patient, although exhibiting many symptoms of depression and grief caused by the death of a loved one, is not showing any signs of serious mental illness or instability. He is obviously an independent individual, rebellious as well. He is not hesitant to make known his opinions and thoughts. He seems to be a very cynical individual, most likely resulting from previous events that have occurred in his life. Though he doesn’t mention it much, he seems to be deeply affected by the death of his brother Allie Caulfield. He seems to miss him greatly, which could be the cause of the contemptuous attitude shown in his behavior. In addition, he witnessed the suicide of a fellow classmate a few years ago. Although they were not close, this is still a very traumatic event and can deeply influence one’s life, especially when witnessed at a young age. The patient does not seem to be at all motivated by anything except for his family. He especially seems unmotivated about school. This may be the result of seeing the death of a classmate caused by torment at school. Seeing an extreme negative result of school may have caused a similarly negative attitude toward it. Caulfield doesn’t speak much about any friends that he has, though he mentions some of his old roommates and classmates from previous school years occasionally. While Caulfield exhibits behavior that may be interpreted as depression by many concerned parents, it is nothing more than the typical effect of teenage hormones. The patient may seem like he has some sort of mental instability, but this impulsive and reactive behavior is simply a product of pubescent hormones mixed with his natural rebellious actions and attitude.…

They were very well taken care of and it was always a pleasant place to be. On the other hand, when Reo crossed over to the second pasture (owned by the donkeys) it was very poorly managed and there was almost no grass. Just as Reo crossed over to the place where he would fight for his friends and family, he noticed all of the bear traps that were randomly placed as far as the eye can see. For the next five miles, Reo cautiously dodged all of the traps set here and there. Finally, after five miles, he had reached the cave where the donkeys lived. He sees piles of hay that were stolen from the…

In my opinion, Donkey has bipolar disorder. Often through out the movie he shows multiple signs of hyperactivity, elation, irritability, flights of ideas, rapid thinking and speaking, and moderate reckless behavior. Donkey showed signs of hyperactivity from the moment he was able to speak. When he was hit with some of that pixie dust, he attained the ability of speech and flight. Even though the ability for him to fly did not last very long, he still retained the talking part. Once he realized he was able to talk permanently, that was his way out of every situation he got into.…

    Mulee Analysis

Deep in the Ozarks where I grew up, so far back in the woods they had to pipe in sunlight, mules were the preferred mode of transportation for coon hunts. A horse doesn't make as good a hunting animal as a mule, and coon hunters don't ride the mule over the fence like English fox hunters, but instead lead the mule up to the fence, and the mule jumps from a standing start.…

    The Story Behind Shrek.

    • 1518 Words
    • 4 Pages

In the beginning of the story, the pop culture theme of making a "quick buck" is pointed out right away. Today's society will make an effort to make money off of anything possible. "Get rich quick schemes" are very popular. This is shown in the movie by having people sell fairy tale creatures to the government at a cheap price. In today's world it is not uncommon for people to try to take advantage of those who are less advantaged or unable to protect themselves from persecution. For instance, look at con artists. They seek out people who are unsuspecting and take them for everything they have. This is similar to what is going on in Shrek. The people who are selling the fairy tale creatures are just trying to make a quick buck. The lady trying to sell the donkey doesn't care about the donkey's feelings. She just wants to make money the quickest and easiest way that she knows how to.…
