3 men go on a quest and discover something that would unknowingly lead them to their own death by betrayal and greed. Some of us have parents who teach us how to have good morals since we were little because nobody likes people who are rude, greedy, and self-centered. Many people believe that in order to move on good in life is to treat others the way you want to be treated;with respect. As we all know when it comes to others and yourself it's best to share or offer anything that you have or receive in front of your friends. As the saying goes; sharing is caring. …show more content…
In this tale there are 3 best friends who go out of their way to look for a man named death who killed a close friend of theirs, these men had no idea who death was but they were so motivated to get revenge for killing their close friend. On their journey they meet an old man who warned them the bad things of finding death but by the way they were they didn't care, making fun of the old man they demanded him to tell them where they can find death and so he did. Continuing their journey they found lots of money under a tree and from that moment on all they thought about was ways to be able to kill each other. The two older men had sent the youngest to town to go buy wine to celebrate while the two oldest can try to kill each other, unfortunately the older men thought of a better idea to let each other live and split it in half instead of in three’s.
While the youngest man was in town he still kept his head in the game, along with the wine he went with a wizard and asked him to give him poison. As the youngest went along he poured the wine into three cups and poured the poison into two of the glasses, when the youngest gets there the two older men stab him and the youngest dies. The two men were so excited and happy that they will be able to have the money all to themselves and they each get equal parts. The two men were so excited they decided to have a drink of wine for their success down went the way and down they went, and so finally ending our tale of greed, deception, sin, and death. I believe that if Geoffrey Chaucer had written The Pardoner’s Tale in today's society he would've changed the characteristic traits of the characters depending on our daily lives. For example, some of us don't care about the people that are home displacement. In my society i've seen people eat in front of a home displacement person and not care about how they feel or how desperate they are. Geoffrey Chaucer wrote this tale based on the way things and people were in his time period in my opinion this tale wouldnt be applicable to the way today’s
society. One thing that I could say is that even though this tale was written many moons ago teachers and students learn from this tale either way. The moral of the story is to learn from the the sins that they committed which is gluttony, greed, and pride. All three men were gluttony (drunk) and committed sinful things, they're definitely was greed because once they saw the money they thought of ways to back stab each other and thought of ways to kill each other. Last but not least there was pride at the end of this story when the two brothers were proud of what they did and had a toast that they killed someone to be able to enjoy all the money that they can have.
