Statement of the problem:

Recent studies showed that the smoke generated from burning mos¬quito coil is of certain health concerns– a person being exposed to the smoke coming from the coil may suffer severe head ache, nausea and vom¬iting, the condition will be severe among asthmatic patients. The emis¬sion offormaldehyde from one burning coil can be as high as that re¬leased from 51 burning cigarettes. This is because of the chemicals found in mosquito coils. Making a mosquito coil out of natural ingredi¬ents may remove these problems.

Objectives:

Have an alternative solution to prevent the different kind of dis¬eases that mosquito brings especially dengue fever and not cause another problem. Make use of the natural resources of our country to solve common problems caused by mosquitoes, especially dengue.

The importance of our project is that we’ll be able to make a mosquito coil that is not harmful to our health and to kill mosquitoes that are vector-carriers of dengue.

Scope and Delimitation:

This project tackles on making a mosquito coil that is made up of natu¬ral ingredients that is not harmful to human health. Our project also tackles the protection of human beings against mosquito bites that cause diseases.

Slavery has always been a controversial issue within the United States. Whether one considers its involvement with the Civil War or its obvious racial subjugation, slavery is thought to have been one of the most debilitating elements of American history. Slave labor, which profoundly embedded itself within both Southern and Northern societies, provided a method of economy for those who relied heavily on agriculture, while others were more concerned with industrialization. Its main supporters, Southern plantation owners, had everything invested in this “peculiar institution” and were devastated when it was abolished. ABSTRACT: Background: The introduction of West Nile virus in Canada is changing the perception that mosquitoes are nothing more than nuisance pests. Interest is increasing in ways to protect against mosquitoes. One of the commonest is the use of insect repellents. Methods: Tests were undertaken to determine the effectiveness of three mosquito repellents: 95% DEET, Avon Skin So Soft bath oil, and a “special mixture” of substances thought to have insect repellent qualities. The repellents were compared with each other and against a placebo in eight separate test sessions. During each session, the three repellents and placebo were tested simultaneously. Each session lasted between 90 and 120 minutes. After every session, the repellents were thoroughly washed from the test site and a minimum of 72 hours elapsed between tests. There were four test sites: the author’s right arm, left arm, right leg, and left leg. All test…

Our group also observed that we can create a mosquito trapper and also a mosquito killer using recycled and improvised materials. In this, we can save more money and it is safer to use than mosquito killer lamps, insect killer racket, mosquito coil, mosquito sprays and other mosquito or insect killers that are not safe with children. Our idea of a mosquito trapper using sugar and yeast may be dirty and unpleasant to see in our front yards, but as mentioned, it is safe and is cheap. Mosquito coils are widely used as mosquito repellent. The major active ingredients of most mosquito coils are pyrethrins, accounting for about 0.3 – 0.4% of the coil mass. When a Mosquito coil is burnt, the insecticides evaporate (pyrethrin, PAH, aldehyde etc.) with smoke, which prevent the mosquito from entering the room and harm those already in the room. The remaining components of mosquito coils include organic fillers, binders, dyes and other additives capable of burning well without flame. The combustion of these remaining components generates large amounts of submicrometer particles and gaseous pollutants such as acenaphthene, penanthrene, benzo(a)pyrene, etc.. These particles can reach the lower respiratory tract and may be coated with a wide range of organic compound generated through incomplete combustion of mosquito coil base materials. Mosquito coils are often used overnight in sleeping quarters; where continuous exposures may occur. Chronic exposure to coil smokes occurs during rainy periods because mosquitoes are found to be more active in the environment due to collection of water and increase in green plants. This long-term exposure calls for concerns on the potential toxicological effects of the smoke on humans.…
