“No he’s changing mine”. How do the Touhys transform Michael’s life, and in return how does Michael change theirs?
The movie “The Blind Side” directed by John Lee Hancock is based on the true life story of Michael Oher, a NFL player who plays for the Baltimore Ravens as a left tackle. When Michael was a teenager, he was homeless and both of his parents were unable to support him. His mum was a drug addict and a father who had been murdered. His life was looking dreadful, until Michael was invited to live with the wealthy Touhy family which changed his life forever. The Touhys gave Michael a place to live, food, an education and most importantly let Michael become part of their family. Unknowingly Michael in return transforms the lives of the Touhys by bringing the family together.
The Touhy family have changed Michael’s life in many ways. Leigh Ann Touhy the mother of the family was the main contributor from the Touhy family in transforming Michael’s life. Her contributions started from helping Micheal who was walking in the rain just wearing a shirt and short at night as she said to her husband “turn around” so he could help Micheal out. That night she let Micheal stay at their home since he had no home. After a few weeks staying at the Touhys Leigh Ann decided adopt Micheal. This decision to adopt him has changed Michael’s life forever. He was now part of a family which cares about him which he has never experienced in his life before. Also Micheal received an education from the Touhys at a Christian school. This gave Micheal a chance to graduate and go college which he never dreamt or thought of. Another time where Leigh Ann has changed Michael’s life was when she wanted to get to know about Michael’s past. Micheal told her everything about his life which tells that he is very closwent shopping with Micheal. Micheal only had a shirt and a pair of shorts and had to wash his clothes consistently.
