Simulation models becomes a trend topic for describing the real system. Model is the simplification of the real world. (Pidd, 2003) states the model is representation of the part of reality which the people wish to understand, change, manage, and control it. Simulation is used to know the behavior of the real system. (Forrester, 1961) states the simulation consists of tracing through the flows of orders, goods, and information actually then observing the sequences of new decisions. Adams et al. (1999), process simulation can be used to support several key steps in the continuous improvement process. To be most effective, simulation models should be developed that apply continuous improvement concepts.…

This article is investing the effects of speed of the action potential across many neurons through investigating two diseases and performing related lab simulations. Multiple sclerosis and epilepsy are the two disease which are investigated and through the use of Neurons in Action lab simulations, we saw the effects that demyelination and channelopathy can have. As my hypothesis guessed, demyelination is the main cause of multiple sclerosis and channelopathy is the main cause of epilepsy.…

To graphically analyze motion, two graphs are commonly used: Displacement vs. Time and Velocity vs. Time. These two graphs provide significant information about motion including distance/displacement, speed/velocity, and acceleration. The displacement and acceleration of a moving body can be obtained from its Velocity vs. Time graph by respectively finding the area and the slope of the graph.…

In the nerve simulation, as the sodium ions enter the channel on the axon membrane, the membrane potential increases. Eventually, it reaches the action potential. The sodium channels will close and the potassium channels will open. Once the potassium ions enter the channels on the axon membrane, the membrane potential decreases. When the sodium ions go into the intracellular fluid, the membrane voltage increases from -70 and continues to +40. It will then reach the peak known as the action potential. When the potassium ions go into the extracellular fluid, the membrane voltage decrease from +40 and continues below -70. As the sodium ions enter it is known as depolarization. As the potassium ions exit it is known as repolarization. Once the…

When I saw the problem, I first thought it was not going to be possible to solve. Meaning; that I would not solve this problem without more information. When I sent the cat over first the mouse and dog did not fight by their selves. Then whenever I sent the dog or mouse over, they would fight with the cat. I even thought about leaving the cat on the existing shore and trying to move the mouse and dog, and found that the cat fought with them there on the existing shore. My thoughts then were that there had to be a trick to this. I had a conceptual block and knew there was something else to the problem that was not mentioned in the writing [ (Morris & Maisto, 2002) ].…

A word’s meaning can usually be traced back for hundreds of years. Over such long periods of time, words become manipulated, many times to the point where the meaning changes entirely. This is the case with the word “ghetto.” The word ghetto can be traced all the way back into the 1500’s. This word has infiltrated itself into today’s society and culture seamlessly. However the current definition of the word is far from what the original definition was. Perhaps due to the connection that the word ghetto has with urban culture, the word has evolved over time to have a more positive, less intolerant meaning.…

    Vertical Motion Model

Hey! I know the vertical motion model can be hard, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a piece of cake. Math is all about using your prior knowledge, plugging it into what you know, to solve for what you don’t know. The vertical motion model is made up of the velocity, and height. The equation is -16t2 + vt + h. V is equivalent to the velocity, and h is equal to the height. The vertical motion falls under the influence of gravity. As the force due to gravity may be opposite to the direction of motion, there exists the possibility that the body under force of gravity reverses its direction. It is, therefore, important to understand that the quantities involved in the equations of motion may evaluate to positive or negative values with the exception of time (t). We must appropriately assign sign to various inputs that goes into the equation and correctly interpret the result with reference to the assumed positive direction. Further, some of them evaluate to two values one for one direction and another of reversed direction.…
