Motivating Students to Participate in More Sports Activities at School
MOTIVATING STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN MORE SPORTS ACTIVITIES AT SCHOOL

Introduction
The aim of this report is to analyse why so many students aren’t motivated to do a lot of sports activities at school. A number of students and teachers were interviewed and their suggestions for changes to the methods are summarised.

The problem * There aren’t a lot of different sport activities offered at school
There don’t seem to be a lot of sports that can be played at school. Only a few sorts of sports are offered and that are football, that isn’t even weekly and a real competition, and softball. If these sports don’t fit you, you haven’t got a lot of opportunities to play sports at school. * Students don’t intend to sport a lot anymore
Students aren’t known for their plesure of moving and sporting a lot. The electronics swallow a lot of their spare time, and they aren’t motivated to play sports in their leisure time, because it’s less exciting.

Improving the situation
What steps can be taken to improve the situation? I would recommend that teachers place more emphasis on increasing the different sorts of sports that are offered at school, in order to get students more motivated. When they are allowed to choose the sport that attracts them most, they will become more motivated. When students are playing a sport they enjoy, they will easily resist the instant tempation of their electronic games.

Conclusion
Students aren’t as motivated for sports as they should be. There aren’t enough sports activities offered at school, which leads to low motivation on the part of students. In my opinion there should be given more choices to the students what sport they want to practice. When they get to choose from sports they enjoy, they will get more

“School should be about learning, not sports”. Kids now a days love to play sports, but don’t like to learn. Learning, and get an education this is a very important thing in life you need it to have a good job so that you can have a family and support them. So I feel in school you must have good grades in order to play any type of sport, and if you do not then you should not be playing. A couple reasons I feel like this is for starters kids pay more attention to sports then they do in class. This is not how this should be. Kids should love to learn something new every day at school, but in some school that’s not the case. Kids need to learn.…

Sports keep teens well behaved at school and in class. Sports reduce the number of fights, and bad classroom behavior. In order to play any sport in high school, the students must make good grades. If they fail to make the grades, then they are either dismissed from the team, or they must take a study hall before each practice for at least 30 minutes, sometimes even for the whole day until his or her grade comes up to a passing grade. In most high schools, there are problems with attendance from the students. If a player does not come to school, then they may not go to practice or attend the game that…

Everybody loves to play sports. They have been a popular recreational activity for many years. Now, most high school-level sports are supported by the school. However, these school sports have started getting out of hand due to the large amount of school that is missed as a result of school sports. This is a major problem because the whole purpose of school is to learn. School sports should be banned because they cause students to fall behind in school work, cost the school money that could be used for educational purposes, and take focus off from school.…

Many students enjoy participating in after school sports where they can hang out with their friends, relax, and have fun. While many kids claim sports are the antidote to stress; numerous studies have shown that student’s grades are dropping because of their focus on sports rather than their academic achievements. Therefore, schools should get rid of after school sports because they are expensive, students are failing academically, and they are a huge distraction.…

Sports are an incentive for students. You have to have good grades to play; so, if you are on the team you have something to motivate you to keep up your grades. Not only grades, but your attitude. If you have a bad attitude in class, your teacher could tell your coach, and you could be done for a game or two. That is a good rule for me, because it makes me control myself. I love being an athlete, because I’ve learned that there is so much you have to learn to be a real athlete.…

Many students would like to but there isn't enough time in the day after homework. Kids are in school anywhere from six and a half to seven hours a day! With the amounts of homework that they are given a night, it wears them out! This leads to playing poorly due to lack of sleep and stress. Not only do they have to go to every game, but there's also practices just about every night until eight o'clock at night. Clubs have the same effect. After school, they have clubs and things to do for these clubs outside of school. There's only so much a student can take in. But yet all our parents and teachers encourage students to get out there and interact with people. It's overwhelming and stressful. If a student misses any homework assignments, they could potentially be on the verge of failing; if this happens a student will be kicked off the team and not allowed to play until further notice leading to…

Many people do not realize the importance of high school sports; let me tell a story. There were two completely different kids that went to the same high school. One of them participated in high school sports from Fall to Spring. This kid kept up with his grades and kept busy with sports and homework. The other kid did not participate in any kind of school sports. The kid who didn’t play any sports went home after school every day, so instead of playing sports or doing homework in the free time available, he had to find something else to keep busy. Having all this free time led trouble. There is no need to go into more depth in the story; the point is that people do not realize that high school sports are a crucial part of being a good student…

Activities and sports in schools is a great way for students to be involved, and to be active. I have done research and there hasn’t been one article I found on why sports shouldn’t be in schools. Having athletic programs and activities in schools are very helpful for students health, it develops team work, helps develop discipline and also perfection. School administrators, and parents, generally support high school activity programs because of the positive effect these activities appear to have on students of both genders. (Braddock P.1)…

Have you ever asked yourself, “Do I participate in enough school events?” Well, according to a study from Kansas University, they express how and why student athletes turn out smarter than the non student athletes. This is because high school sports takes a lot of focus, motivation and determination. Having this being said, high school sports for some people is a major issue because not everyone has the opportunity to get in one.…
