I. INTRODUCTION

Studying is a hard task. However if you have the right kind and amount of motivation it will be easier to do. As an old cliché “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink”. Motivation is like this. It involves not only leading them to topics but also making thirsty for knowledge and understanding. Motivation can mean between success and failure. II. OBJECTIVE * To be able to know what is motivation and its role in learning * To be able to illustrates principles of motivation that can apply in our lives * To be able to know the types of motivation and its importance to us III. BODY/DISCUSSION Motivation is an inner drive that causes you to do something and persevere at something. Motivation is an inner drive that energizes you to do something. It is the strength of the drive toward an action. It is the process of arousing sustaining interest in an activity in order to achieve a goal. Motivation specifies the conditions that predispose an individual to learn. Its importance lies in directing activities toward the achievement of a goal, controlling and directing human behavior, including spiritual and moral values and giving satisfaction and happiness to the individual. Motivation is classified either intrinsic or extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation is evident when people engage in an activity for its own sake, without some obvious external incentive present. It is an internal stimulus that arouses one action. Extrinsic motivation refers to motivation that comes from outside learner such as motivation resulting from reinforcement in the form of high test scores or teacher compliment. It is usually necessary to develop the love of learning, or the ability to succeed among people. It is done by giving awards, incentives, money, gifts and more. There are also different theories of motivation. One of the most popular is the Maslow’s theories, wherein in his theory, it discusses about five
