Youth have played prominent role during conflict events. As young people, we are forced to engage in all sort of dangerous activities during conflict. Some conflict zones in my country Ghana include Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo and East Mamprusi districts of the Northern Region. For the past few weeks, the two districts have been experiencing reprisal attacks involving the Bimobas at one hand and the Konkombas and the Mamprusis on the other hand. In situation of armed conflicts, young people are more likely to be recruited into leading violence, thereby making the youth victims of sexual violence. And so, it is obvious that young people are important to the peace building process and must be encourage. However, not much has been done to promote active involvement of young people in peace building and conflict prevention. In view of this, the youth are calling on the government and other key actors to encourage and support us in our peace building efforts. The youth want Governmental authorities and key actors to promote active involvement of youth in peace building and conflict prevention by engaging in the following:
Strengthening the capacity of young people and youth organizations in peace building, conflict prevention and conflict resolution through promotion of intercultural learning, civic education, and human right education on issues such as mutual respect for cultural, ethnic and religious diversity, the importance of dialogue and cooperation, responsibility, solidarity and international cooperation. Young people must be encourage and supported to participate in capacity building training initiatives on the above mentioned areas to enhance
