Literature Review
Academic motivation can be refer as the motivation to decide for and continue with studies (Wilkesmann, Fischer, & Virgillito, 2012). Motivation programs are one of the best choices that school will choose to enhance the student’s academic motivation. Motivation will aimed to enhance student self-esteem, confidence, sense of self, self-awareness, and approach to life, life satisfaction, and general motivation (Martin, 2005). It is obvious that students who are not motivated to succeed will not work hard (Francis, Goheer, Haver-Dieter,Kaplan Kerstetter, Kirk,Liu,Thomas,& Yeh, 2004). It is needed especially for university students. Research showed that many students encounter problems they are not prepared and no knowledge when entering university, hence, causing stressful (Siraj, Ali, Mahadi, Soin, & Dawal, 2007). Accordingly, the motivation program will try to make students feel comfortable and give students chance to talk their problems, their fears and anxiety. In fact, the reason cause the student depresses on study could attribute a fault to the lack of motivation. Thus, there are lots of motivation camp holding by the school or by the social and concentrate on increase the student’s motivation.
For help the student which lack of the motivation on their study and enhance their academic motivation. This is because motivation plays such a large part in students’ academic engagement and achievement it is important to identify factors that contribute to their motivation (Martin, 2005). After joining the motivation camp, student can learn and get the interest on their academic study, increase the motivation on study and achieved goals easily. Students are lack of self-efficacy (Clearly, & Zimmerman, 2004). So, through motivation program, it will gain self-efficacy. Perceived self-efficacy is that people’s beliefs in their own capabilities to perform (Nilsen, 2009).
