Pleasant and Eglinton was considered Toronto's suburbia. However, as the city developed throughout the years, it became part of the city of Toronto. As of today, this area is not only part of the main city, it has also become of the major part of Toronto, as it surrounded by Toronto's Downtown area. The city of Toronto classified and referred to the area as a major "arterial". 1920's was particularly important for the Mt. Pleasant/Eglinton neighborhood, because there was a residential building boom around that time in the area. The city was expanding to the north. The Mount Pleasant Cemetery is another significant key contributor factor in the development of the neighborhood and continues to be one today. As the city of Toronto continued to grow, the need for a new cemetery grew. As a result, the city purchased 200 acres farm in the north of Deer Park, and named it Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
