Mount Vernon Pros And Cons

Mount Vernon, the house George Washington's had lived in. The Mount Vernon Ladies' Association is a non-profit organization that preserves and maintains the Mount Vernon estate originally owned by George Washington. In the estate there are many valuable artifacts saved from Washington's original time. The house started off around a third of what it is now, Washington added on more as time went on. Thanks to the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association students can learn about Washington's life while seeing how he lived. The home of our nation's first president lay almost perfectly preserved in Virginia. While many historical landmarks are left forgotten due to the modernization of the society, luckily Mount Vernon did not. Mount Vernon now works
as a learning source to people of all ages. Tours now include the slave chambers, a fact about Washington which teachers often hid from their students to keep George Washington as a Hero figure. I particularly did not think of Mount Vernon as memorable. Being able to see the home of the first president was cool, but not as spectacular as I thought it would be. I felt as though I was either rushed or having to listen to information I already knew about. It would a great spot to go with a few friends but as a large group, not so much. Though overall I would like to go back and enjoy the experience again.
