The movies Corpse bride and Caroline concentrate on the social norms and the characteristic greed which is present in both movies. The protagonist's miserable lives one who wants acknowledgment from her parents and one who can’t make any decision in his life leads them into the alternative world where they face many challenges and obstacles.
In the movie Coraline we meet an attention hungry protagonist who grew up with workaholic parents. With her parents always being busy Coraline’s character contain characteristics of sadness and yearning. The movie ends with us thinking that the Movie Coraline is about a Heroine who saved her parents using her own bravery and smartness; however we missed very small details that change Coraline from being the savior without a rescuer into a damsel in distress. Though it's not clearly seen, Wybie's presence in the movie changes Coraline independent characteristic. Some examples would be when Wybie saves Coraline when she was trapped inside the mirror, and helps her get back to her world. Also in the scene just before the ending scene we see that Wybie is the one who saves Coraline during the fight between her and the manipulator’s hand. That’s a lot of saving for such a strong character. In addition to Coraline’s character we can compare it to Emily’s character in Corpse Bride. Emily is completely different because from the beginning of the movie it seems as though she may be rescued by Victor but by the end of the movie Emily ends up saving herself and breaking free from the weight of dying before getting married, using her own power and Thoughts.
In conclusion the movies Coraline and Corpse bride, Concentrate on the social norms, though gender roles with the importance of mothers in both films that represents the social norms and the characteristic of greed that is deeply embedded into the plot of both movies whether it is greed for money, power, or love which lead the protagonist of the film into the alternative world where they lead an adventure to find their true selves with and without the help of the traditional saviour or
