Gavin Hood's adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game was an okay film it was neither great and neither was it bad. The movie does not include how the buggers communicate with each other, and battle school looks different from what I pictured it to be. The movie makes look the same and just move some things around. The way the movie shows the battle room is still pretty cool, because you can float around and do some awesome things while floating around. In the book the battle room would change the environment every time after a battle was finished. The battle room has these big led squares for cover. In the book ender did use the cover that had led lights on them, but he also used himself as camouflage,…

Τhe film I chose to critique this week is the classic family comedy Home Alone (1990) directed by Chris Columbus. Leading actors in this film is eight year old Kevin McCallister played by Macaulay Culkin, along with Peter McCallister, the father, played by John Heard, Mrs. McCallister played by Catherine O’Hara, Marv, who is the first burglar, played by Daniel Stern, and Harry, the other burglar played by Joe Pesci. Other characters in this film are Buzz the brother, mean Uncle Frank, and creepy old man Marley. The title of the film hints to the audience that someone is home alone, but the viewer does not know what happens in the story until watching the film, which makes it more interesting. This film is about a large family who gets together for a Christmas trip to Paris, but the night before they leave there is a wind storm, which knocks out all of the power, which means their alarm clock does not go off, and they sleep in. This puts them in a mad rush to get to the airport, in turn leaving Kevin behind, and the rest continue on to a fun family adventure.…

Often times movies created from someone’s imagination can become reality. Within every society there are corporations that try to take advantage or control of certain aspects. The corporations often times abuse the power that is given to them. Xbox One has both High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) input and output whereas the PS4 has only the output. The PS4 has no USB ports for flash drives or any headset that needs a USB plugged in the system. Xbox One now has two USB ports for flash drives for extra storage and allows you to use a mouse and keyboard to play (if the game is compatible). Xbox One and PS4 both have more power than their predecessors and both Microsoft and Sony have used the past models design flaws to improve the latest consoles. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is a chip manufacturer that makes the hardware chips for both consoles, the Xbox One has a 1.75 GHz AMD 8-core CPU, while the PS4 has a 1.6 GHz AMD 8-core CPU. The difference means Xbox One has an 10% increase in processing power compared to the PS4 . The graphics card will affect how fast graphics load and how good they look. Xbox One has an AMD Radeon GPU with 1.31 teraflops, but the PS4 beats it in this category with a AMD Radeon GPU of 1.84 teraflops. Xbox One supports both 2.4 GHz and 5GHz, PS4 has limitations to 2.4GHz…

In this essay, I will be analysing the Bond film, Skyfall. I believe that the primary audience for this film is males aged between 15 and 80 because the younger audience will aspire to be like Bond and the older generations will relate to the films and become nostalgic as they most likely watched the earlier Bond films. But I believe that the secondary audience is females of the same age. This is because the younger women may watch the film for either Daniel Craig’s aesthetics, or because there are important female figures within the film that are empowering for younger girls. On the terms of the socio-economic scale, I think that people that are A’s, B’s, C’s and D’s are the most likely audience for this film, and not E’s because people who are in this group don’t necessarily want to watch a film about upper class people, and any class can watch the film. In terms of the Young and Rubican theory, I think that The Resigned and The Mainstream would be a main audience because The Resigned love nostalgia and The Mainstream like to follow the crowd.…

The purpose of the film trailer 2012 is to advertise the film and increase the margin of potentional viewers thus increasing profit margins. The film is generally directed at men who are usually associated with liking action movies and this is a action film. Although the film has a few genre's mixed in the prominent genre is definitely action as it has a lot of montage clips showing buildings falling down mass destruction overall apocalyptic situations. This film is ground-breaking as it features a lot of things people have never done before in a film i.e. Monumental buildings crashing down and being destroyed, entire countries capsizing, meteors crashing down onto a motor home with half of it being destroyed. This particular montage creates a want-to-see effect as it looks epic. Another want-to-see effect is at the start of the film trailer when copy says “Mankind's Earliest civilisation” “Warned us” this particular copy makes the audience wonder what they warned us about. “This day would come.” The image used at this point is of a solar eclipse which could be an emphasis like saying all-hope-is gone - light is fading- God has deserted you – We are forsaken.…

There are few professional sports rivalries that compare to that of the Yankees and the Red Sox or the Flyers and the Penguins. Well since the year 2006 when Playstation 3 was released there has been a much heated rivalry between the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. It has been a nonstop war for the development of the superior gaming system. There are many reasons one could say that one console is better than the other. In saying this, the users are correct. Each console does in fact have attributes that give one the edge over the other. As an online gamer myself, I do in fact own a Playstation 3. When one is in the market for a new gaming experience, deciding which console to purchase can be as painful as pulling teeth. Some factors that should be considered during the shopping process should be quality of online multiplayer, entertainment value, and most important to me was obtaining the most “bang for my buck.”…

15 years ago this month, Focus Features released Deliver Us from Eva, a film about 3 guys who try to wrangle their overbearing sister-in-law (Gabrielle Union). It was funny, entertaining, and had a bomb R&B soundtrack. Union was spectacularly brilliant in the title role. Her quirky facial expressions, bodily twitches and pronounced delivery of the rapid-fire script brought the eccentric and hyper-intelligent Evangeline Dandridge to life. Eva is a no-nonsense natural born leader. She cut her teeth at this raising her younger sisters: Kareenah (Essence Atkins), Bethany (Robinne Lee) and Jacqui (Meagan Good). They all became orphans years prior. To stay afloat and start "The…
