Having had the report I then asked my nurse in charge if I could look at Mrs M care plan to get any information about her. I had to ask my nurse to look at the care plan due to the Data Protection Act 1998 which Mrs M is protected by. After having looked at the care plan I found out her mobility was poor and would need at stand aid which a risk assessment has been put into place for, so Mrs M was able to be transferred. As Mrs M would need a stand aid to help with all transfers myself and another career would have to carry out the task together due to two acts, the moving and handling act 1992 and also the Health And Safety At Work Act 1974. The Health and Safety at work Act was put into place to protect myself and the resident from hurting ourselves. I then notified the nurse in charge that myself and another carer where going to Mrs M room to assist her so they knew where we were. On arrival to Mrs M room I chapped her door and waited for her to reply for yourself to come in as we have to respect her privacy, as the room is Mrs M we have to wait for her permission to enter the room. We get permission and entre where we greet Mrs M with and good morning and introduce ourselves so she was able to name us. I went over to the top of the bed where she was lying and bent down to her level. I spoke to her in a friendly matter as I would speak to someone who has no problems communicating this is part of the SSSC codes of practice. I then ask Mrs M if she would like a hand to be wash and dressed, to Mrs M replied yes she would like assistance to wash and dress. We have to ask this
