The shrubs and trees in the area creates a cool and lush topography, extending around the spring, thus creating a semi-aquatic vegetation. Further down the landscape are steep crystalline rocks which serves as the home of some large predators. This mosaic landscape supplies Aldrich with good amount of water especially in the cool areas and the forage necessary for the habitation and survival. All year round, Aldrich is quite comfortable although the heat of the summer poses food problems. Also, in the winter season when the topography becomes slightly semi-desert, it exposes Aldrich to harm from predators and starvation from microbes scarcity.
This temperate region of the park fosters the adaptation of Aldrich and its species, because it allows them self-sufficiency in food search using the local natural resources. However, the Hot Springs Park is adjacent to woody lands, close to city streets and houses. These makes the park endangered by human predation and pollution through trash dumping. Per natural instinct, Aldrich browse through trash in plastic bags left at the park in search for food, however, this results in prolonged stomach upset for the wonderful
