One of the first and most notable was Norway's Fantoft stave church, which police believed was burnt by Varg Vikernes of the one-…

This review focuses on the contents of chapter three of Leaders At War by Elizabeth N. Saunders. Saunders dedicated this chapter to the explaining intervention through the president Dwight D. Eisenhower. Her main Argument is that Eisenhower’s is an externally focused leader and as such, his beliefs about the origins of threats shaped his decision to intervene. This review does not criticize the author’s argument about the former president but it does however criticize her methodology through the use of cost benefit calculations. I argue that Saunders, in trying to explain leadership choices in times of war, uses special cases that would only aid her argument and not go against it and for this reason, her argument becomes weak.…

Belonging can be understood as having a place in the society. Belonging is influenced by social, historical, cultural and personal experiences, which all help to shape our identity. Our choices can lead us to feeling like we belong, or there may be barriers preventing us as individuals from making connections to people or groups. Belonging gives us security and ensures us that we belong to place, family, and culture. While not belonging can lead to insecurities which leads to questioning yourself if your good enough for the society to belong.…

f employee retention is a headache for business, it’s a migraine for the U.S. Navy. Forty percent of the navy’s new recruits will wash out of the service before their four-year tours are up. That’s not just bad for the military’s effectiveness, it’s expensive: it costs taxpayers about $35,000 to recruit one sailor and send him through nine weeks of boot camp. Of those who make it through their first hitch, only 30% sign on for a second term. When I took command of the destroyer USS Benfold in June 1997, the navy’s retention problem, which I had observed all through my 16 years in the service, became mine to endure or to…

Opioid abuse and addiction remains major public health concern and is often referred to as the opioid crisis. The National Institute of Health (NIH) reports there are approximately 2.1 million people in the United States suffering with the abuse and addiction to drugs such as heroin, morphine, and other prescribed opioids, and that number is increasing (NIH). While heroin addiction has been at the forefront of this problem, prescription opioid abuse is on the rise. Overdoses are also increasing, according to the NIH in 2012 the number of accidental overdoses quadrupled in comparison to 1999 (NIH). The National Health Institute reported a strong correlation between the abuse of prescribed opioids and heroin use. Substance abuse and addiction has very serious implications effecting the individual’s health, as well as social, legal, and family ramifications. Addiction can also affect people of all ages and socioeconomic class. Public Health officials,…
