Want to keep you in the loop on this one. Mr. Banchs is a union rep in Guam and argues that his local hired excepted service employees of the National Guard are eligible for enrollment in DoDEA schools. As you're already aware, this is not the case per title 10 U.S.C., section 2164. HQ is aware of the correspondence, just want to keep everyone else in the loop, as he may feel compelled to elevate the…
Pt. maintained his full-time employment status and self-reported that he has no issues or concerns with his personal finance. Pt. has become more open in acknowledging and accepting his chemical dependence and the destructive consequences that it has had on his social support network, intimate relationship and his family unit. During this quarter, Primary Counselor will encourage Pt. to attend informative AMS group sessions associated to relapse prevention and the recovery process. Primary Counselor will encourage Pt. to examine his commitment to his recovery and come up with new strategies for effectively balancing work, recovery and family. Counselor will help Pt. in arranging social and leisure activities that are free from any form of connection with substance abuse during the next quarter individual sessions. Counselor met with Pt. to discuss his updated treatment plan dealing with Relapse Prevention Strategies. Pt. agreed to sign the record of services sheet. Pt. indicated that his current prescribed medication is “doing fine”. Pt. is taking 60 mg of methadone as instructed by AMS Doctor. Counselor asked him whether he has used any illicit drugs since the last session which he replied yes. Pt. read and answered few questions on his treatment plan without objections. Per treatment assignment, Pt. will develop a relapse prevention plan consistent with recovery while identifying social, emotional, and physical pressures that pose risks for relapse. Pt. is currently in the Level 0 + 1 because he continues to use heroin. Counselor prompted Pt. to identify justifications he told himself to make poor decisions and lead to an unhealthy path that eventually led to using heroin recently as evidenced by his previous UDS. Pt. reported that he decided to use opiates recently because he was bored and “I fall back to my old self.” The next step in the session, Counselor encouraged Pt. to recommit to his recovery program by reinstituting some positive behaviors. Counselor tried to…
has continued his struggle in achieving his goal of establishing a healthy social support network over the last quarter. Pt has not made any new relationships or attempts to enjoy leisure recreation and associate with positive people, he continues to insolate himself and spend time with his daughter who is dealing with her own addiction. Pt. has not increased his involvement in social/recreational opportunities and was provided with additional encouragement in this area. Counselor will encourage Pt. to continue to work on this long-term goal until he establishes a strong support network and/or move to Florida with his supportive brother. Counselor will prompt Pt. to recognize how a positive support system will assist them in maintaining a crime/drug free life. Pt. will discuss with AMS Counselor and supportive family member(s) how a strong support system is a matter of balance. (If most of the time you isolate yourself from supportive people, places, and things, you are lonely. If you are too open with people, places, and things, you may find yourself getting hurt often.) The Primary counselor will monitor the pt. for…
1) The media comes up with their own ideas on the case and sways everyone else's opinion and half of the information stated is false. The media should not play a role in the legal system and it should be left to the court. I don't think we should tell the media as much as we do because they tend to sway opinions.…

Toby is unemployed. Toby has been becoming increasingly confused, more tolerant of the substances he is addicted to, and he has recently had recurring thoughts of ending…
Spaulding stated it’s important for someone who is dealing with substance abuse to change people, places, and things that he did while using. If not, that person will find himself being triggered either psychologically, behaviorally, or emotionally that will cause him to use or want to use again. Dr. Spaulding stated certain substances are difficult to withdraw off of, even after someone has received detox treatment. Dr. Spaulding also informed me that someone who is recovering from substance abuse is usually advised not to make any major decisions within the first year of getting clean. He stated it’s imperative for someone in recovery to follow certain steps; from his experience in the prison, most of them have been court ordered to attend ninety meetings in ninety days and get a sponsor. Dr. Spaulding reported it’s important to get the family involved in family treatment to address family dysfunction, and that family-related stress is the leading cause of…

There are several treatment modalities available for individuals with substance abuse disorder. It’s wonderful that there are so many options to support people with substance abuse issues (SUD). The road to recovery is so long for most people and finding the most suitable treatment program can be greatly beneficial to the client. On the other hand, starting a treatment program that is not the best fit can be very detrimental to the person’s road to recovery. One of the roles of the clinician is to identify with the client which treatment option is best for them. I will highlight what this process looks like and discuss in detail one specific…
Although it has been difficult addressing the initial problem there has been some progress made. The client has not really opened up so getting to the root of the issue has been tough. However the client’s attendance in school has improved significantly. There has not been any significant change in the client’s attitude. Prior to attending the sessions at the teen counseling center Tommy was talked to by a school guidance counselor in regards to the effects of drug and alcohol abuse. The client’s need to experiment with drugs and alcohol also has much to do with…
