Question 1: (a) Personality is how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. Researchers have identify the most important ways to describe a personality is in term of traits. A trait is a particular component of personality that describe the specific tendency a person has to feel, think, and act in certain ways.(Jennifer and Gareth 2008)
Most psychologists agree that the traits that make up a person’s personality can be organized in a hierarchy. The Big Five Framework of personality places five general personality traits at the top of the traits hierarchy. Each of the Big Five traits is composed of various specific traits. 1. Extraversion – The tendency to experience positive emotional states and feel good about own self and the world around them; can be called as positive affectivity. Extraverts are able to socializing with their coworkers. They may do well in job requiring frequent social interaction, example: sales marketing and customer service. 2. Neuroticism – The tendency to experience negative emotional states and view own self and the world around one negatively. Can be called as negative affectivity. People with high neuroticism are more likely to experience negative moods at work. Sometimes they are more critical of themselves and their performance than people who are low in neuroticism. 3. Agreeableness – The tendency to get along with others. An agreeable person are easy to get along with and a good team members. 4. Conscientiousness – The extent to which a person is careful, scrupulous, and persevering. A person with high conscientiousness is organized and more self-discipline. 5. Openness to Experience – The extent to which a person is original, has broad interests, and is willing to take risks.
