Much Ado About Nothing Play Analysis
I attended the Sunday matinee of the Nevada Conservatory Theatre’s production of “Much Ado About Nothing.” It was, overall, an extremely well done performance, from the acting, to the costumes, but as with any piece of art not without it’s faults. The set was well made and fit the time period quite nicely, but I could not help but feel it could have used a few more props to give the audience a better sense of immersion. It was often hard to tell where the scene was, or if the characters had changed scenes or not. Using more props would also give more distinction between events and places, making the overall scenes more memorable. One of the strongest points in the play was the costumes. They all were extraordinarily well made, and looked authentic. Some of the notable mentions are Prince Pedro’s uniform, the watchmen’s uniforms, and all the costumes in the ball scene. The costumes helped the audience remember which characters are which, and make the play more memorable. The acting was also very well done, it is evident that a lot of hours of rehearsal were put into the production. One performance that deserves mention is Clinton Brandhagen as …show more content…
Perhaps this happened as a mid-play drag of sorts, but nevertheless some scenes felt like the actors were only reciting the lines without any clear action in mind. This was never a serious enough problem to be distracting, but it would help if the actors kept their mind on what conditions their character was in, and what was their character’s goal in order to not lose focus and keep the play lively all away through. The Nevada Conservatory Theatre put on a phenomenal performance of the play “All Ado About Nothing.” Even though a few scenes and performances were a little flat (most of which were corrected by the end of the play anyway), it did nothing to take away from the overall

I like the set design of the play it looks realistic it seems like you are living in moment. For example, the wall was made of wood but the color contrast gave a realist impression. Also, the set design is important because it gives idea to audience where the setting of the play is located. Although the building in this play were relatively new, the original Broadway play set design was very worn out. In my opinion, if the play was old then the set design should look like the original Broadway play because on Avenue Q middle and lower class family leave. The apartment look like they leave on Avenue A. In additional, the costume is also important so the audience can figure out who they are. I think costume also show the personality of a character like upper, middle, and lower class and the costume designer of this play did great work. Especially, when two or three character wearing black cloths and the puppets were in red, blue, and green this shows the color…

The setting was good and I have to admit the actors were outstanding! Every character was extremely well played with a good batch of confidence. Made me feel like they really had been through all of it. Gregory Burke has made an informative, entertaining and provoking play not to forget. Al parts in equal measure. Fantastic. Above all, the scene I enjoyed the most, was the one where Cammy practically gets changed. The viewer gets taken in the hand and brought through a whole lot of previous wars. That was truthfully amazing scenery work.…

The movie “Much Ado About Nothing”, though similar to the original play by William Shakespeare, has subtle differences. Although the dialogue in the movie is the same as the original play, the settings and emotional intent are better represented in the film. So, the overall meaning of the story isn’t diminished but preserved and enhanced. In Summary, the movie is a good representation of the original play that William Shakespeare would be proud of.…

2013 brought us a new take on the Play “Much Ado about Nothing” by William Shakespeare. The new film was adapted, produced and directed by Joss Whedon who also created the Buffy the Vampire movie along with it’s series. “Much Ado” unlike the Kenneth Branagh Version is set in Modern Day along with a black and white indie film look to it. The film sticks to the language of William Shakespeare respectively and follows the plot to it as well. The play is pretty much a story about a bunch of rumors that get mixed up with one another leading to very confused characters accidentally falling in love with one another or out of it.…

The 1993 film adaptation of the romantic comedy “Much ado about nothing” was a riveting and well done performance. The producer Kenneth Branaugh captures the essence of the play, whilst adding his own twist and flair to it without interfering with the plot. The film is casted by world renowned actors such as Denzel Washington who plays Don Pedro the Prince of Aragon and Don John, his bastard brother whom is played by Keanu Reeves. Along with great actors and actresses, Branaugh employs brilliant lighting, diversified camera angles, sound effects and a dazzling soundtrack all in which enhanced the appeal of the movie to its viewers. The music, lighting and technology have highlighted the moods of the play but in a more effective way. The actor portray scenes in the play with more emotions and passion. The movie is well linked in a sequence of flowing shots which the play did not have, but the acts and scenes sufficed for it. The movie overcome the barriers of the old English text as it makes it easier to understand and more enjoyable to its modern day audience. The film has orchestrated every skill there is to film making. It may have however been better if a few actors were replaced. The movie has gotten many rave reviews; according to critic Todd McCarthy, “The film is continuously enjoyable from its action-filled opening to the dazzling final shot.”…

Acting as a whole was perfect because I did not find any mistakes during the production. It was like I am watching a movie, but the only difference was that it was live. Not many actors can do what these actors did during the show and I am sure that it took them a lot of practice to make it perfect. Director Mark Ramont was phenomenal for putting the entire production together. It was well directed and I could not say any negative thing about it at all. I would usually find one thing that a director did wrong, but with Director Mark Ramont, he did not fail to impress me throughout the show. Scenic Designer Christopher Schmidt made the stage very realistic. The second I walked into the theater I was impressed of how beautiful the set up was.…

Shakespeare’s clever development of his theme begins with the title. “Much Ado About Nothing” seems to express the idea that the characters in the play exaggerated the seriousness of their situation. However, it must be remembered that this play was written in the late sixteenth century. The word “nothing” was pronounced the same way as “noting.” “Noting” meant to "take notice of something; to hear, observe, eavesdrop” (Squires). In the play, eavesdropping led to incorrect ideas and avoidable problems. Had people decided to confirm their hypotheses with evidence more valid than hearing a fragment of a conversation, they would have realized that they were truly creating avertable problems about nothing. Shakespeare used this cunning pun to establish that, by ensuring the legitimacy of something before believing it, a person can prevent much dilemma.…

It is truly fascinating to see how two plays, Everyman and Much Ado About Nothing, that were written during different periods in time by different playwrights, have many similar traits. It is well known that drama has seemed to grow wherever men have gained the piquing interest to know- the facts, the reasons, and the cause. However, as does men change and evolve, so does the drama. Writers continue to look for the “new” way to capture the audience and express the hidden emotions or thought within each writer.…

Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” unravels the powerful pressure that society places upon an individual, because at the heart of this play is the society of Messina which powerfully influences the characters and the way they live their lives. The Messinian society of the 16th Century is in stark contrast to our own busy and hyped society of today where words are quickly losing their importance and prominence, as other forms of communication are taking over. Shakespeare structures this play around the code of conduct that governs Messinian society and forces its citizens to judge each other on appearance rather than on any sort of truth. This play, structured as it is around the complexity and conventions of Messinian society, uses these confines to skilfully unravel a story of tragedy and comedy whilst exposing the diversity of the human mind. Shakespeare composes this text using a variety of language structures to create different atmospheres and dimensions between the characters who, interestingly, still appeal to a 21st century audience.…
