“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee” continues to be one of the numerous quotes repeatedly acknowledged by Muhammad Ali. Ali was born as Cassius Clay Jr., but he later altered his name to Muhammad Ali. Muhammad Ali occurs to be the Greatest Of All Time, in which later years became the playful acronym GOAT. Muhammad Ali is the GOAT because of his talent in the ring, long-lasting legend, and charismatic personality.
Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. was the firstborn child of the late Cassius Clay Sr. and Odessa Clay on January 17, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky. Odessa, light skinned; she was some white lineage in both her parents’ families. She was a genial woman who worked as a cook and house cleaner for
wealthy white families. Odessa tried to impress dignity on her children, and some believed Ali inherited his good sense of humor from her. Cassius Clay Sr., named after a white 19th century plantation owner who became an ardent abolitionist and freed his slaves, had a different temperament. Clay Sr. took pride in this legacy, but he knew as well that life in white America, in the border state of Kentucky, had checked his hopes. He wanted to grow up an artist; instead, he turned out to be a sign painter.
