If our country entirely changed its political system, our country would not be as stable. Currently, the Democratic and Republican party are not compatible and do not do much work as is. If our country changed its political system to a multi-party system, our country’s government would be even more unstable. In the case that America does try to establish a 3rd party or multiple new parties, it would be very difficult to keep these new parties thriving. If this were the case, then other smaller parties would most likely merge back into the other two main parties, the Republican party and the Democratic party.
