A person was chosen and they had to say their own name and say the name of someone on the outside edge of the circle. The middle person then had to try to slap the hands of the persons name who was said before they could respond with another person's name. If someone's hand was slapped then they would go in the center. This game was fun and fast paced so everyone had to remember names and some of them were not the typical and normal names that I found myself around in my past. That was one step into diversity that I have never seen before. After our name game we then went on to discuss what would be happening throughout the meeting. While the visit from the Relay speakers did not have much to do with diversity I definitely did learn something about others and that people all over are similar in some way. The activity that they had us do was one similar to an event we did during New Student Week, where they asked questions about cancer, such as if we had ever known anyone with cancer, or if we knew someone who passed away from cancer. Almost each person at the meeting stood up for most of the questions, it made you realize that while everyone is different and everyone has different backgrounds that everyone has something that connects them to others. Going to this meeting could help me with my future as a student leader because it can give me a place to send students if they feel as if they want to be around a more diverse group if there is not one already around them. This meeting can also be something that I can take a group of students to, so they could learn about other cultures and how diverse our student population really is. I think this is a good thing because it could definitely promote diversity and looking at how others have lived and the differences between everyone's
