Multimedia is a media that uses multiple forms of information’s content and information processing (Example: text, audio, graphics animation and video) to inform or to entertain the user.
Elements of Multimedia.
Major elements of multimedia include text, audio, graphics, animation and video.
Text
Out of all the elements text has the most impact on the quality of multimedia interaction. Generally text provides important information. Text act as a key stone tying all of the other media elements together

Sound or Audio
Audio is used to provide emphasis or highlight a transition from one page to another

Graphics
Graphics provide the most creative possibilities for learning sessions. They can be photographs, drawings, graphs, pictures or something pulled from the internet.

Animation
The artificial movements of text or objects created in virtual environment using specialized software packages
Video
Video has been defined as multi media. Video makes use of all the elements of multimedia, bringing your products and services alive but at a high cost.
The embedding of video in multimedia applications is a powerful way to convey information which can incorporate a personal element which other media lack.

Non interactive proceedings Non interactive multimedia is a corporate presentation or multimedia demo in which the audience just watch the show as it proceeds from the beginning to the end in sequential manor.

Entertainment multi media
It is used to entertain the users. Examples (multimedia novel, movies, games etc.)

Edutainment
Like cd rom titles which try to educate the user in some specific curriculum along with the entertainment is known as edutainment multimedia.

Miscellaneous
Miscellaneous multimedia are those applications that have been exclusively developed for public access.
