Multiple Intelligence Test
After completing the Multiple Intelligences Test, I was somewhat surprised by a few of the results and others not so much. Logical-mathematical and interpersonal intelligences were the highest scored categories scoring the same number. Bodily-kinesthetic scored the second highest just one point less than the logical-mathematical and interpersonal. The remaining intelligences scored a similar number but were definitely on the lower end of the range. Logical-mathematical intelligence focuses on science and math interests. I was surprised that this category was one of my top intelligences. While I do enjoy working with numbers, I do not really have an interest in the science field. Logical-mathematical involves organizing via patterns and categories. My job consists of working with numbers, more specifically with money. I do organize my job duties so I complete them a category at a time. I start my day with record processing to packaging federal financial aid to originating student loans and all the steps involved to complete each phases. Interpersonal intelligence scored the exact number as logical-mathematical. Interpersonal intelligence is the ability to understand others. I have had plenty of opportunity to deal with others professionally and, for the most part, I am able to read …show more content…
This category does not surprise me that it was toward the top of the intelligences. I have always been one to problem solve both professionally and personally. Bodily-kinesthetic involves problem solving without help. Professionally, I can take an internal software process, determine what steps the process involves, and resolve where the communication line breaks. The second intelligence was the logical-mathematical intelligence which represented the ability to solve mathematical and logical problems with ease. An interesting observation made by Lynn Helding states that: “the connection between logical-mathematical intelligence and musical intelligence is notable.” The reason this particular statement amaze me was because I obtain hundred scores in those two intelligences, and at first I thought it was a coincidence. The third intelligence was spatial intelligence and it referred to the ability to learn more visually or by imagination.…

According to Gardner, intelligences cannot be considered separately because there is a lot of an interaction amongst the various kinds and normally undertaking a simple task entails more than one. Educators should be careful that every child has all eight intelligences, but they function differently in different people because their operation solely depends on environmental, genetic and cultural factors. Some learners are highly developed in respect of a particular intelligence, some moderately so and others are poorly developed.…

Logical-Mathematical Intelligence, is an intelligence that hits real close with me. Logical-Mathematical Intelligence, is the ability to detect patterns, reason deductively and think logically. This intelligence, is used most with scientific and mathematical thinking. Mathematics, is a field I hate with a passion, but being in the retail field I use it a lot. I have to be able to give customers the cost of items with the discount amount off the top of my head. I need to be able to process these prices quickly and correctly to get sales. I also, have to close the store at the end of the night and make sure the cash drawers all equal one hundred dollars, before there put into the safe. A pattern, is formed to be able to process these drawers promptly and to correctly close the drawers out with a hundred dollars in them. Four, ten dollar bills, seven, five dollar bills, twenty-one, one dollar bills, thirteen quarters, eleven nickels and dimes, and ten pennies. This pattern, is a prime example of how this intelligence is use closely by me everyday. In a world where money is everything, I would say this intelligence hits home to everybody.…

In 1983 a professor of education at Harvard University, Dr. Howard Gardner, developed the theory of multiple intelligences. This theory states that there are eight different ways in which a person is intelligent. These different forms of intelligence are as follows: linguistic, or word smart; logical-mathematic, or reasoning/numbers smart; spatial, or picture smart; bodily-kinesthetic, or body smart; musical, or music smart; intrapersonal, or self-smart; and naturalist, or nature smart (“Multiple Intelligences” para. 1-2). It is not difficult to pinpoint which of these intelligences standardized testing primarily measures. For students who are not linguistically or mathematically gifted, the tests do not accurately show the students’…
