The musculoskeletal systems is made up of bones, muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, joints, and tissue. With different types of fractures we need to know if it is open or closed treatment. We need to make sure that we read the entire code, to make sure you get all the information. You do not want to code a fracture without manipulation, when there was manipulation performed. With every atomic site there are codes for incision, excision, introduction or removal, repair, fracture, arthrodesis, and amputation. Any work that is done to the spine, it is important that you know what vertebral segment is having the treatment.

Some thing that we need to ask when coding for cardiology are as follows. What procedure was performed? Was imaging supervision and interpretation provided by the surgeon? Is the catheter inserted centrally or peripherally?
