The Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC is a timeless building and a work of art itself. The building was designed with a contemporary style and is an outward expression of its artistic, belongings inside. I visited the Museum on Tuesday, July 02, 2013, at around 2 in the afternoon. I was within the museum for about 2 ½ hours, observing the exhibits. The building itself exceeded my expectations, but the inside took my breath away. Every detail within was elaborate and intended with thought; from the glass windows, to the straight lines of the architecture, to the overlooked design of the staircases. The museum was not extremely busy. The museum was occupied with an adequate amount of people, creating a comfortable, quiet, atmosphere to enjoy the art. I was able to enter the museum without feeling bombarded, compared to most popular attractions. The displays were prearranged for pleasant viewing, easy to maneuver around, and located suitably by collection and design. The ambiance and setting was much more peaceful than I expected. I particularly enjoyed the visit to the Mint Museum and am now encouraged to visit other art museums!…

My main concern with this plan is the need for the website. Although technology and internet usage is part of many’s daily routine, given the historical environment of The Sutliff museum and it’s target audience, a website may not be practical. After completing further research on target audience, I’ll be able to determine if focusing on the website is the best direction. If not my intended plan is to create an additional brochure and flyer, increasing the amount of printed…

Museums bring history and culture to life by allowing individuals to gain unique hands on experience that is different from learning from textbooks or television. One can never know the reality behind certain artifacts and art until they see it for themselves. The perception of viewing a multitude of replicas and pictures such as the Mona Lisa can be dramatically different from witnessing the painting up close. The interactive experience allows one to engage and immerse ourselves back into time to learn about the truth of different cultures and traditions. The intent of museums is not purely to enthrall historians and scholars, but to create an environment which is welcoming to all individuals. While historians argue that museums…

On May 7, 2011, I went to the Timken Museum of art located at the southeast side of Balboa Park, San Diego. I chose a painting named “The Piazzetta at Venice” by artist Luca Carlevarijs (1663-1730 Venice). I t was very interesting painting that grabbed my attention at first. The size of painting was 38 x 76-7/8 inches, and painted with oil on canvas. The painting took half of the wall and the middle of the painting pointed directly to the viewer’s view. This painting was painted using all with colors, light, and loose brushwork. Also the painting showed the image of Venice as a city of pleasure, peaceful and livable. The painting’s composition draws the viewers into the picture, the center of Piazzetta toward a distance other parts of the city as if the viewer were on a nearby, close distance. The middle of painting is a perspectival plunge down the street into the distance. The arrangement of painting seems the composition of buildings. At the first glance, the main subject of the painting seemes likes the architecture. The secondary main subject in the painting seems like the realistic people with different costumes and the everyday details. The monument in the center of the plaza is fully drawn on the painting but the other buildings around it were not fully drawn. Only some parts of the buildings are arranged on both sides of the painting. The highly esteemed painter Carlevarijs revealed the canvas with enormous buildings with details. According his painting, the buildings are built using ancient Greek’s style. The columns of the building on the left side on the painting are built with famous ionic deigns with scrolls and look very three dimensional. At the center of the plaza, there is very tall, colossal columns was stood, and it takes a role as a horizontal balance on the painting. On the top of the column at the far right at the painting, the winged lion is drawn. The building on the right is very…

Macau has developed its tourism sector when there was a rapid growth on the gaming industry since the 70s. However, there is no longer a comprehensive tourism planning at that time. It was until 1980s, the Portuguese government has tried to preserve the cultural influence over Macau after 1999. By preserving the mixture of Eastern and Western cultures in Macau, it paved the way for the development of cultural tourism in Macau. Nowadays, the development of cultural heritage tourism is significantly successful. The culture of Macau is not merely gaming but the East-West cultural pluralism. Its successfulness in preserving the cultural heritage can be clearly shown when Macao’s Heritage (“The Historic Centre of Macao”) has features on World Heritage List in 2005. This highly facilitated the development of Macau’s Cultural Heritage Tourism. In this report, the development and management of Macau’s cultural heritage tourism will be examined.…
