“Quiero ser tuyo enterito pero tengo miedo, prometeme que no me vas a dejar sin tu amor, I’ll give you my heart girl but you gotta promise prometeme mami, promise you’ll hold me (hold me) oh touch me (touch me), love me, way past forever”. This lyrics come from the song “Promise” where Aventura featured Usher, the song immediately took this group to the top of many international charts, “Promise” was one of those song that allowed this band a crossover into the Anglo community and a direct popularity for the European market. In the very beginning “Los Teenagers” and today are known as “Kings of Bachata”, Aventura has won in every nominated awards around the world. Three things grabbed my attention from this group when I listened to them for first time such as, 1st why “Bachata music” when they are New Yorker instead of choosing any American genre, 2nd how they became so popular among one of the most demanding market in the musical industry, 3rd last and no less important how they mix R&B and Hip Hop with “Bachata” keeping the essence of each genre. How come these four young, dynamic guys with a seldom-seen chemistry born and grown up in New York chose “Bachata” where its acceptance is not that much in American Culture instead of any other genre?. Romeo the lead singer had once was asked and he said, “I knew that my ink on a paper would take us to travel around the world if people started listening our music”. The lead singer and song-writer, like his partners, have Latin root that on one way or other connected with their fans. Their Dominican roots inspired them to pick “Bachata” among different choice. I like this because they were focused not only in Latin-American community, they wanted go as far as they wanted. When people want to achieve a goal usually, they do the same others people have been doing before however they fail. It showed me that we are not supposed to do the same if we want different results. That is
