Musical Theater Major
I am currently a college freshman at EPCC who is studying to become a musical theater major. My goals as a musical theater major are that I will be able to perform at the best of my abilities and move on to become a Broadway performer. once I've graduated I would like to move to New York And perform on Broadway. Some people might think it is because I want to make a lot of money or become famous but its the total opposite.
My reasoning for wanting to become a Broadway performer is so that when I perform for people and they hear me sing or act, that in that moment they are able to forget about their own lives and all the troubles they may going through. Even if it's just for one second In that one second, I want to be able to change lives and

I am inspired by those that act because the actors are challenging themselves and playing a role that they had most likely never played before. As the audience, I am absorbed into the characters’ world and how the little mannerisms of each character complete the play as a whole. I am an absolute fanatic for theatrical performances, whether it be a play, musical, or dance. I think that performers have to express themselves effortlessly, unbeknownst to the audience. By experiencing it firsthand through pit orchestra, I was fully able to appreciate how much time was put into the preparation of of a performance. As a student at Wellesley, I will be frequenting the musicals and plays performed by the theater because the fine arts is what fuels my imagination. Also through participating in pit, I learned that many, many hours are put into creating a fantastic, emotion-wrought performance. It is not just the actors that create the atmosphere, it is also the musicians. Along with the actors and possibly the music, there are more people that put the time into making the play “perfect”, something that the audience usually does not know or does not see. For this reason, I am very excited to learn that there is a theater (aka a place to watch plays/musicals/perform as a pit member) because whether I…

However, the performer is responsible for bringing that to life. The performer is receptive of artistic and expressive interpretations. A simple tap move with a four bar count can motivate others to create a dozen different expressive variations. When I finally performed on stage, I outpoured my excitement and uneasiness on that stage. I cherished every minute of it. I imagined objects, feelings, and people in my mind as I performed for Rosie’s Theatre Kids. I was no longer rehearsing for a singular performance. I realized I was rehearsing for life. The lessons learned on this journey helped mature and facilitate my transition into a confident young…

In my budget project, I have put the life of a professional singer together. I chose to do this because the idea of being professional is a way people see you as a person, and also how they will act and treat you. Another reason I chose to be a professional singer is to make a lot of money, and get the car and house I have put in my budget project. A good reason that this life was put together is that I am completely comfortable with it. I am comfortable with it because, to be a good or even great singer means the more money and tours to take.…

Musical theater and entertainment have been an ever-changing enterprise that, until very recently, included little diversity. In March of 2008, a new musical was presented on Broadway. It was titled In the Heights. This new musical featured something never before seen in musical theater: the songs are primarily latino rap. It was a bold step down a path no one had taken before. The story takes places in a poor neighborhood in New York called Washington Heights. Those living there are immigrants from hispanic and latino countries, such as Puerto Rico and The Dominican Republic. This new musical was written by composer, rapper, and actor Lin Manuel Miranda. Miranda starred as the main character, Usnavi. He composed all of the music, rap, and lyrics for the show. At a performance in the White House for president…

Stalking is a very serious matter, despite society’s tendency to trivialize the experiences of many female victims. There have been numerous overlooked cases in which female victims have been stalked for various amounts of times and taken action to have the stalker removed, just to have him/her eventually come back up in some sort of manner. Many top box office hits have the cliché plot of the stalker who murders the girl, but people don’t realize that stalking is a real problem many actually face. There have been quite a few of these incidents, maybe not resulting in murder, but still uncomfortable for women to deal with, close to my community. Just recently in Hamilton, Ohio, a sexual predator was arrested for counts of stalking teen girls by driving by their homes multiple times, texting them up to 80 times per day, and watching them exit school. This is why I want to take the initiative to be a drum major for peace, justice, and righteousness for women in surrounding communities who are dealing with unwanted contact or stalking.…

I am applying for both section leader and drum major because I have a lot to offer in both positions in the band. I am a great leader, with a lot of maturity and know when it’s time to be serious, and when it’s time to joke around. Every day, I grow more and more with this band and leading this band as drum major, or leading the saxophones as section leader, would be an amazing accomplishment for me and I know I can do the job well.…

When you go to a movie theater you see all kinds of different people. Whether or not it females or males, young or old, American or non-American. There are different perspectives in which the movie will be seen. I think a good example would be the movie 2012. It is a science fiction disaster film directed by Roland Emmerich and distributed by Columbia Pictures. 2012 was a global film that all people were interested to see. This movie came out in 2009 and when it was in the making in 2008, all of my friends were already talking about the movie but what really surprised me were the reasons that they were going to see the movie for. Benjamin Trujillo’s, a family friend, reason to go see the movie was so that his wife and kids can see the way the world is going to end if they don’t behave according to the bible. Benjamin grew up as a very potent Christian and his wife was not that very religious so therefore he…

Ever since I could remember I’ve dreamed about be a singer and when I was able, I started taking classes to accomplish that goal. Since working and studying in the entertainment industry I have found that there are many different career paths in this one field but I have chosen to discuss two that are similar but different in many ways. Opera and Musical Theater are two passions of mine and I hope this research will help me better understand these two careers. First off, opera is a very demanding filed and it takes a lot of work to acquire the talent and technique which mean practicing almost every day for many hours The education requirements for becoming an Opera Singer is unlike any other job as far as schooling, some singers do go on to music conservatory after high school these. Students in the voice department take courses in music theory and hearing skills each semester until all requirements are met. At these schools students will learn the necessary vocal and musicianship techniques to enhance their performance, style, presentation, and speech. Some students who wish to coach recital material or to explore the French and German Art Song repertoire: Other performance opportunities include oratorio, lieder, art song, contemporary and early music literatures, and choral music. Most students consider joining vocal music ensembles as chamber singers and bigger vocal ensembles; Voice students also appear regularly in student recitals and present major recitals during their semesters at a certain music conservatories. On the other hand music conservatories can be very expensive and in the long run is not needed if one has been studying and practicing for most there life and has a personal vocal trainer. There is no certain degree that a performer needs to obtain a job…
