Assignment Title : ESSAY 1: Autobiographical, Descriptive, Narrative
My name is Omar, and I was born in July, 1995, in Syria. I live in a small family, made up of my mother, father, a brother, and a sister. After I was born my family emigrated to The UAE and settled in a city called Ras Al Khaimah. When I was five years old, I encountered my first, but not last, taste of shock. It was living far away from my cousins and my relatives. I always felt oppressed because most of the boys here live with their relatives.
When I was six years old, my father registered me in a public school. Most of the students in that school were locals. This caused a lot of problems for me. One of these problems was their accent which was strange and difficult for me to understand." How I can communicate with these boys?",I asked myself. Similarly, students there couldn’t understand most of what I say. But thanks god, after a semester I started to understand their local accent. Another problem was the differences in customs and traditions. That’s why till now and after 18 years of living in the UAE most of my friends are Syrians. I usually feel at ease and comfortable whenever we meet together.
My family and I used to travel to Syria every summer. Mostly we used to go there by car. Going by car to Syria took from two to three days. We always faced problems in finding a good hotel for sleeping. Moreover driving through the desert was scary and dangerous. My father did his best to help me grow with a love of my country.”Omar, Syria is your country. You should know everything about it.”, ordered my father.”Of course my dad” I replied.”With your help, I will be deeply rooted in my country.” He always insisted that I should know a lot of things about our country. So he took us to ancient sites in Syria, and sometimes in Damascus he used to let me go out alone so I get more experience about life
