My Best Friend

My Best Friend There are many different people in my life; they all have a variety of personalities. I admire each one in a different way. When asked to identify the person who has had the most powerful influence on me, the most obvious choice is my mom. There are many different reasons for this choice, but the three that stand out most of all are her considerable heart, her undying faith, and her quirky sense of humor. My mom’s considerable heart is one of the things that I love most of all about her. She gives so much of her time to others. Whether she is teaching an illiterate person to read or just being that one friend you need to be around, she is always the first person there. Her ability to love people unconditionally is amazing. When I was three years old, I was adopted, and at first sight she enveloped me in love and affection. She never seems to judge people, regardless she accepts people for who they are. She doesn’t use up energy to dislike someone, instead she prays for them. She tells me that you do not have to like what someone is doing, but you should show them kindness anyway. In addition to her considerable heart, she has an undying faith. Any morning you can find her sitting at the dining room table with her Bible open in front of her and her head bowed in prayer. She puts God first in all that she does. Her faith that God will always provide is unwavering. It is so inspiring to me, the faith that she has. Finally, she has a quirky sense of humor that will make you laugh, or at least smile, even if you do not want to. Her ability to find humor in everything is uplifting. I remember while growing up it was embarrassing, but looking back I realize that is one of the things that I love most of all about her. Her laugh is contagious, and she is not afraid to use it. Throughout my life she has been the one constant thing. A lot of times it may have been from the sidelines, but when the time came she was there to help me back up. I know that being my mom is not always the easiest or most pleasant of jobs, but I thank God that she has never given up. I am so blessed to have her as my mom. Not only is she my mom, but she is also my very best friend.

A quality that I admire most in her is her selfless devotion to us. Her own interests are of little importance to her where ours are involved. The meals will he ready at the time we need them. She will forego a good night's sleep without a murmur, nursing us when we are ill. Her personal possessions are meager and they have to be so. In her scheme of things our interests come first. The little ornaments we wear today were hers. In the knowledge of fashions she seems to excel over us. She seems to take secret delight in seeing us fashionably dressed.…

Lastly, she is a brave and clever girl. Once, a conflagration happened in the pet health center when she was feeding puppies. She tried to save those animals. Just sitting with her brings me comfort. She smells of sweet coconut and her skin is warm and soft like soft cashmere. I love her laugh, and how her eyes shine optimistically and full of life. She raised me as a single mom and me growing up in that environment, in a house without a father figure taught me that if we work hard and we put our heart into things for someone we love, we can move mountains. I learned from her to be patient, to fight when I need too and to be persistent to accomplish my goals, I learned from her to believe in myself, that everything is possible and everything at the end will turn out the way we wanted.…
