My Brother and Me

The best thing happened in my life that I have known a guy from my family when I moved to Dubai for the first time, which is Mohammad, my cousin. He really means a lot to me that’s why I am going to talk about him. I was eight years old at that time. He’s like my age. He was born in Dubai. The first time he came with my aunt to our house was the first time I see him and my aunt. We were looking at each other’s with a strange look. I was playing with my video game and I saw him watching me playing and I thought he’s waiting me to invite him to play with me and I was correct about it. He really wanted to play with me. I looked at him and smiled and said, “Why don’t you come and join me?” He smiled and said, “Alright!” Then we played together and talked about how my life in Jordan was awesome and his life in Dubai. This was the first I met Mohammad. I joined the same school as him when I was in third grade. We sat beside each other’s in class and we stayed till the twelfth grade in the same class and beside each other’s. We were always fighting in the school and after we finish the fight we sit again beside each other’s as nothing happened. We studied together and I remember how we were jealous of each other’s because each one of us wants to prove to his parents that I am the best in my study. We finished school together in three years with a good grade and we made our parents proud of us. I remember this now, because he’s the first person I met when I first moved to Dubai and he stayed with me always. Whenever I needed someone to talk with and tell a secret he was there for me. He always tells me when he sees me upset or confused from anything, “Hey brother don’t lose hope in life, everything is going to be good just trust God.” I remember these words from him now because he travelled to Jordan to complete his study in the university there and I travelled to the United States and this was the hardest time in my life because I left my family and specially my cousin Mohammad. We did a lot of crazy things in our childhood, like one time when I was sixteen years old we escaped for the first time from school with our friends and the school caught us and called our parents and we were saying to our parents, “It’s not me he’s the one who told me to escape with him!!” Our parents know that we both planned for it and my Mom said, “You both deprived of going out this weekend and you’re going to study the whole things you took in this week!!!!” This was the worst punishment we get in that time. I am twenty years old now and I would like just to say thank you Mohammad for everything you did say to me or did it to me. He gave me self-confidant when I travelled, he said “We’ll stay cousins, brothers, and best friends even if we are not beside each other’s for now.” And he also said, “Finish your study and get you bachelor degree and come back fast!” and from the first day I travelled he calls me everyday as well as I do call him just to check on each other’s and tell what we did and how is life different here and there. Together, we knew in our hearts what does a very important person means to us and what we should do to appreciate how they affected us in a good way not in a bad way and how we should do the same to them. Just don’t lose hope.

We met on a rainy day at recess when the other kids were bullying me. I was being kicked around like a hacky sack not knowing what was happening. After I finally got loose I ran to somewhere safe and the next thing I saw was him, Simon. When he saw me crying, he brought the joy back to me. He said encouraging stuff, like “You do know that the only reason they are bullying you is because they have been bullied themselves. If you ignore them for some quite time they will forget all about you. Hey, why don’t you spend lunch with me tomorrow?” Me slowly lifting me head said “sure.” That day forward I spent every day eating lunch with him, laughing and having a great time. Every day was a new adventure with him not knowing what was going to come next.…

In the article “The Case Against the Death Penalty,” which appears in Crime and Criminals: Opposing Viewpoints, Eric Freedman argues that the death penalty not only does not deter violent crime but also works against reducing the crime rate. I was excited and nervous to go to a new school. When I arrived I had to find all of my classes by myself. I met a girl named Jasmine who helped me around the school. I was starting to like this school a lot because I was getting the hang of it and I was making new friends. I remember my first crush in middle school. His name was Tre and we were both on team Explorer. He use to pick on me every day so I did not find him attractive anymore. One day I was sharpening my pencil in class and he came up to me and told me that I was pretty. I was surprised to hear that from him since he would pick on me. We began to talk a little more and I seen a softer side of him. He told me that he use to pick on me because he had a crush on me. Today Tre and I have a great relationship with each other and we talk everyday. It was about to be a new year so my family decided to invite our neighbors over to our house for a new year's eve party. The night of the party arose and the neighbors were starting to enter through the black door covered in glass welcoming us into the neighborhood. As I was meeting my new neighbors, I met a boy that lived straight across the street from me in the one story, tan stucco house with the blue shutters. The boy’s name was Shawn. Shawn had dark brown hair with tan, olive skin. His eyes were deep brown, that I found myself mesmerized by, falling into them as I found myself falling for him. There was not an awkward moment at all that between us that night, we talked for hours as we watched the orange and pink sun rise. The following day we hung out all day and from them I had made my first friend on the northshore. Shawn had sarcastic, upbeat attitude just like me. It was like Shawn and I were the same person. We got along perfectly, however, sometimes we had our moments, but who didn’t? Shawn taught me how to have fun without doing the bad things I would have been doing living in New Orleans. With Shawn as my best friend we were always having fun and staying out of trouble. Six months into our friendship Shawn told me he had stronger feelings for me other than just friends. During that summer, Shawn asked me to be his girlfriend. I have never had a boyfriend before so Shawn would be the first one.…

From a distance I saw a handsome young man admiring me from far. Our eyes met and it was like nothing I had ever felt before with any of the men I had been with. It was something special. We began walking closer together like something out of a movie. I felt on top of the world for once, my eyes were sparkling and my stomach was fluttering with butterflies, as we walked closer and closer to each other. When we became close enough to talk about our personal lives, Will would get on his knee and speak my fluent language, French and say the most romantic things. At that point I knew he had my heart. We talked until 2.00 a.m.…

It was summer, July 2011. The day which one I will never forget...Our story began in the camping Stomion (Greece). We have our first date on the beach at night we were like speaking about each other for 10 hours without to stop…Suddenly we realized that we were born to be together. The next day I should leave and go back to my country. I said that all this which one happened was one summer adventure...but actually I was wrong. After for two weeks dating on Skype, he told me “I am going to come to your place and to spend one week with you” –I didn’t believe. And yes. He came and we spend such a lovely time in one small town called Ohrid... We feel so good together…And I was sure that I didn’t feel something more beautiful from that before. The time was passing and twice a month we were seeing each other. We decided to try to be together and we said everything will be perfect if we are doing together...you must to have faith!! Because distance was how we found each other and distance will never separate us emotionally, so it’s not going to be easy, it’s going to be really hard, we're going to have to work at this everyday but I want to do that because I want him. I hate waiting, but if waiting means able to see him, I’ll wait as long as forever to be with him. Like that pass and the winter we were in Bulgaria in the summer we were in Spain. Every moment spends with him was happy and full with love … We were hoping that we will stay together that will come the day when all the time we will be together, we were speaking about our future... Then we were back again with the everyday video calls but it became more special. We sometimes cry coz were missing each other so bad but couldn’t even hug but we both know that soon, we will be together and will never be apart from each other anymore…We still together happy and if I lose him I don’t know how I will live… I'll always be waiting till eternity with open arms.
