My Career Goal
My Career Goal
When I was a child and people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always had an answer. That answer changed significantly as time went on, and right now it would be IT programmer if somebody asks me again. That’s my main goal right now and I know I still have a long way ahead of me. But I realized that in order to achieve that long term goal I should have few small and short term goals each year and accomplish them one by one like small ladder steps toward my main goal. So I came up with this year’s goal that is getting me a new laptop and enrolling to new advance classes in my career.
My first goal this year is getting a new laptop. Like I said my main goal is to be IT programmer, so of course I need a better laptop like the one I have right now and good laptop aren’t cheap. The one I like is nearly 2500 dollars. Even though I’ve been cutting all other interests like going out, shopping and been working on weekends and my day offs on my half time right now, I’m still haven’t come up with enough money for my laptop yet. So I have to look for a full time job in summer to come up with that money. Luckily, I have a friend who promised to take me in her store as a fulltime technician for the whole summer. So hopefully by the end of summer I will have enough money to afford my new laptop, or even have some money left so I won’t be completely broke after that.
So after I reach my first goal then I can be able to move forward to my second one this year that is enrolling to new advanced classes for my career. Although some programmers may qualify for certain jobs with 2-year degrees or certificates, but like we all know the economy is going bad right now so employers will be more picky as they choose for applicants. So I think it would be more advantage for me if I have more advance and wider programming knowledge required for my career. So this semester I’ll try to get the best grades I can then coming next semester I’ll be able to enroll

Even though I have already achieved some of the goals that I had laid out for myself in my senior year of high school there are still some more that I will be working on. For an example I set out a goal to become employed as a Dental Assistant by the time I finished my college classes in March of 2015, and now I can mark that one off my list. By the end of my…

When it comes to my education my short-term goal is to finish out this school year and maintain my current GPA. I find it easier to motivate myself each day if I have set in stone grade goals in mind. My long-term education goal is to finish my Associate of Applied Business degree in spring 2017 and my Associate of Arts degree in spring of 2018. I have enough classes and credit hours to finish a second associate degree in two part-time semesters. My short term career goal is to continue where I am until I graduate and learn as much as I can from those around me. I find that the people around me at my current jobs are very intelligent and it would be wasteful of me to not learn what I can from them before I move on. My long-term career goal…

Well here I stand , with the accomplishment of at least half my personal goals . I finished high school , left the small town , attended college and received not one, but three degrees . The object of goal setting is to make sure the goals are attainable and realistic (Le, 2013). The personal goals I have set for myself are to complete the coursework and dissertation for this DBA program , by December 2016. In order to achieve these goals , I must do my best in the coursework assignments , work on becoming a better writer , and continue to stay focused and determined . According to Uttley (1998), “Long-term goals can be broken down into two parts . Conceptual, which are your wants and needs , and operational, which are the steps you take to meet those wants and needs (p. 2). The professional experience I have come from customer service within the retail industry and student financial services , within the twoyear college system . A part of me has always wanted to journey to the other side of things with the college system . Instead of dealing with students on a daily basis , I want to make the decisions that affect the college but benefit the students . I could be a Director of a department within the…

During my college career I will work hard to maintain a high grade point average just like I have in high school. My goal for high school was to get a 4.0 all through high school so that I could be the valedictorian. I was able to achieve this by doing my homework every night and studying tirelessly. There was times when I thought that I wasn't going to be able to accomplish this. For example, this year I am taking AP physics and I have always struggled with science…

High school was something I did not take seriously. I did not learn until my senior year that you have to work hard to get somewhere, and not do the bare minimum of things to just “get by.” Since I did not try to keep high grades in school, I was unable to get the hope grant. This kept me at home my freshman year and at Georgia Military College. On the positive side to not going off to a university my freshman year, I have become motivated to be a hard worker. College is a new start for me to finally set goals for myself and work hard to achieve them. My short term goals consist of maintaining an 85 or above average in all of my classes, raise my cumulative GPA, and have all of my assignments turned in on time. Each day I set aside time to focus on my school work. My short term goals are going to help me reach both my mid-term and long term goals. The mid-term goals I have for myself are to finish all core class at Georgia Military College, graduate from GMC in two years, and transfer Point University. My long term goals are to graduate with a bachelor’s degree, and start my career as an early childhood educator. The goal terms are like a chain reaction. By studying in my short term goal it will carry me to my mid-term goal of graduating from Georgia Military College transfer to a university. Once I finish at the university I will come to my long term goal, which is my career.…
