My Career Goals and Dreams
My aspirations consist of getting a bachelor’s degree in a science that would help me pursue a medical career as a physician. My passion has always been to cooperate and assist others for their well-being. I believe that pursuing a medical career will allow me the opportunity to help improve the community's health conditions and learn about their health related needs. After completing my college education I want to go to medical school and become a doctor, I want to specialize in oncology, the study of cancer, and contribute to the cancer research field. I have dealt with cancer within my family; my mother was diagnosed with a pelvic tumor summer of 2012. This situation has instilled in me a purpose and desire to become an oncologist. Furthermore, I want to give back to underserved masses in the U.S. that struggle every day to maintain a family, and who do not have as much access to medical assistance as other privileged groups. The first project I plan to achieve throughout my career is to create a clinic where affordable medical assistance can be provided regardless of the patient's economic, ethnic, or immigration status. I also want to help expand horizons for others therefore I plan to create a non-profit organization where I can provide internships for medical school students all over the U.S. and allow them to travel to outlying communities around the world to provide free medical services. I also wish to form a team of doctors to help educate remote communities about nutrition, especially indigenous groups from Latin American countries. This project is particularly close to my heart because I come from Costa Rican descent. I have volunteered in orphanages and homes in rural parts of Costa Rica and I’ve witnessed myself the lack of medical attention among the indigenous people there. I have this incessant inquietude to go the limit for my mother and the people of Latin America. These people inspire me every day and it’s because of my mom and them that I

After Graduate School, I hope to have my PhD in psychology or my doctorate in psychiatry. I would like to start out working in jails, talking to criminals and analyzing their brains versus the brain of an average adult to study how the brain reacts with criminal activity and why they do and feel what they do. I have heard that a person can not do that type of work for very long because it is emotionally tasking so after that, I would like to open my own counseling practice up. I would do either marriage and family therapy or focus on teenage depression. Eventually, I would like to retire into school psychology or become a psychology teacher. Also, if I ever have enough money, I will buy a house devoted to taking in stray animals…

When it comes to my education my short-term goal is to finish out this school year and maintain my current GPA. I find it easier to motivate myself each day if I have set in stone grade goals in mind. My long-term education goal is to finish my Associate of Applied Business degree in spring 2017 and my Associate of Arts degree in spring of 2018. I have enough classes and credit hours to finish a second associate degree in two part-time semesters. My short term career goal is to continue where I am until I graduate and learn as much as I can from those around me. I find that the people around me at my current jobs are very intelligent and it would be wasteful of me to not learn what I can from them before I move on. My long-term career goal…

Cancer is a horrendous plagues that touches the lives of millions on a daily basis; it is such a grand scale that the fight to alleviate cancer needs all the help it can get. In the future, my goal is to study at Chapel Hill and move onto a field in oncology, but until then, I want to help the cause in whatever way I can. As a part of the National Junior Honor Society, we are required to “make a difference”. There are many ways that we contribute to making a difference to a cause. For example, we can hold more fundraisers like car washes or even bakes sales. In my opinion, I would like to do these activities to help the American Cancer Society. There are different kinds of cancer, but they can all affect many lives. About 3,400 people are diagnosed with cancer each day in the United States. They are left with the idea every day that soon they have to leave their family and friends behind and there is no cure.…
