My Career Research Paper

My career and educational goal is to become a Registered Nurse in the future. I have decided to become a nurse when I was fourteen years old. In Yemen there were not enough nurses, my aunt was at the hospital for almost three years. She didn’t have someone who takes care of her like nurses. When I came to the United States, my main goal was to become a nurse and still it’s my educational goal. Now as a students at City College, I am trying to achieve my goal, and I know that there are some requirements I still have to do in order to achieve it.
My mother influences me always to be a good student, and being able to achieve my goals. I told her that I want to become a nurse, and I am not good at math. She said that math needs more practice and one day you will be able to achieve my goal. She always have a growth mindset that I and my siblings will be what we want to be in the future. My mother tells us that knowledge is power. She didn’t get the opportunity to go to school when she was a child. She was the oldest and had to work hard in order to provide good life for her family. My mother always works for us in order to
pay our educational expenses in Yemen.
My education has contributed to who I am today by giving me the ability to help my family in America.
Education helped me translate to my mother when she goes to the offices and hospitals. Education also gave me the opportunity to help my sisters and brothers in order to help them through understanding English. When I was in Yemen I didn't know anything about having a career in the future .Education also have helped me thinking about my own future. As of today I have many plans in my future, for example education will help me be more understanding person I will be able to understand different subjects and try new paths. For instance, I decide to be Registered Nurse and if I will not be able to take on the challenge, I still have different choices in medicine like being a pharmacist education will help me be a person who is open to explore new
paths.
Learning English was the most important part of my life. I dint know any English when I Came to the United Sates. The greatest challenge that I’ve overcome was reading, writing and speaking English. When I first came to America it was so hard and overwhelming for me, because I did not know how to write, speak or read English. However my optimism inspired me to overcome them by working hard, talking to my classmates and asking for assistance. My next step after high school was college. I promise to myself to work extremely hard to reward my family and community because they are the cause of my motivation to get to this stage. I will improve my family's life through my education by making money, buying a house, and making everything more than sufficient for them. Being the first in my family to attend college motivated me, because I will be a role model to my siblings. Many people are suffering in my country because they don’t have enough nurses; this will be a great recognition for me because I will have a significant role in assisting them. Education also have opened the door for me in order to help community. As of today I helped some people who are refugees when they need help. Education have benefit me throughout my life. Education always plays a huge role in my life because if I am educated, I will be given much respect. Also education will decide if my future will either be negative or positive so that I can be in control of my future and my destiny.
