My Childhood Days
It was a green world where I was born. I was born and raised in a small town which could almost know as countryside. Now, the small town has already collapsed and turned into a developing-city. It is so sad that I can only recall my childhood days in my mind instead of visiting the small town. It was a small town with warm-hearted villagers. We were all friends and always share our foods and games. Mak Kwan had the most famous cooking while En. Chong could fly the kite highest. Hmm… I could still smell the curry in the air! My brother and I, we used to rush to Mak Kwan’s home and asked for curry when we smell it. Mak Kwan never decline and always offers us a big bowl of curry to share with our family. The satisfaction is so hard to describe. In my childhood days, I loved to fish in the rivers. Especially hand-fishing! I never like to fish with the rods because it is too messy. Although I like to fish, I am not good at it. So, it was always a big surprise for me when I succeeded to catch a fish. It made me smile all the day because I was over the moon! I usually went fishing with my brother. Not like me, he was good at hand-fishing. He could always catch a basket-full of fish. But, we only chose a fish to bring home and let the others go. Brother said that this was to make sure that there are always fishes in the rivers. One day, I watched “Recess” and I was so impressed by the tree-house. I asked for permission to build a tree-house, and my father promised to make me one! God is so good to me! My dad said that it was his dream when he was small too, so, he tried to make his and my dream came true. Then, we started to proceed. First, we selected a tree which was suitable to build a tree-house. After that, we drew a simple blue-print of the tree-house. We chopped down some trees and cut them into boards (it was not encouraged to cut down trees at that time, but no one stopped us because everyone was excited to see the tree-house). After three months, it was

After reviewing the given documents, it is clear that the response to Buddhism was positive at earlier time periods in China (220 CE – 570 CE) because there was political instability and disunity and as soon as the imperial structure was restored (570 CE), the responses to Buddhism became generally negative. During the time of instability and disunity Scholars wrote about how they lived by the “Four Noble Truths” and how they accepted Buddhism even though it wasn’t talked about in the Confucian Classics. But when structure was restored Buddhism was described as a cult of barbarians and many believed it should be eradicated altogether.…

Some years it's really tough to catch something, then there was like the summer of ‘07. We caught over 300 fish in that one week. Fishing is really special to me, my grandpa was basically a father figure to me and we bonded through it. He would take me every weekend and fish until the sun goes down. Now that he is gone, I find in myself to keep fishing, since it has become a true love and passion. My uncle has filled that father figure role in my life these past couple years. Shows up to my golf meets, supports my decisions in life, pushes me to be better every day. He is a very careful kind of guy. He is always prepared for the worst, even when we are our fishing in the boat. As the week goes on it becomes more challenging to not sleep in for an extra hour. We really didn't get out onto the water until nine that morning. There was still some fog out on the water, but it was good enough to drive across the lake. See, from where we put in the boat is around twenty miles from where we actually fish. This was always a problem because this would eat up all the gas in the tank. Later that day, it was around four. It takes around 1 hour to drive the boat back to the ramp. I'm starting to pack…

Fishing out of the keys, it was almost impossible to come back empty handed. Most of the time we would come back with a bloody boat and a cooler full of fish that my dad would need to filet right there on the dock. “Jeremy get the front lines.” “ Jeremy go wash these off.” “Jeremy this, Jeremy that.” I love to go fishing but I don’t really like the constant requests my dad makes nor how long it takes to catch a damn fish. Fishing is something that my dad and I can do together and even after I realized I’m not much of a fisherman, I do enjoy watching my dad filet his catches after a nice morning on the water. I remember one time, I watched as he sliced open fish after fish, all of their guts spilled out all over the dock and I tried to tell if it was a…

I am an international college student from Vietnam, and have been through twelve grades with lots of memories. One thing I could say is the interval time between my sixth and eighth grade was the time that I cherish the most. It is not only because it was my most successful time with a bunch of fabulous achievements I obtained, but also because literally it was my great pleasure to be instructed by a very thoughtful teacher. She was my Mathematics teacher, and her name is Mrs. Nguyen.…

Finally I figured it out; I was so excited that I started jumping up and down an accidently knocked the tackle box into the water. Both my grandpa and I just started laughing so hard we had hard time breathing. At times, in the river, I even encountered bigger fish, some of them double my size, but, whenever I noticed a big fish coming my way, I remember how I used to change my route, my direction and go for safety. This we all did as, we had heard that, the big fish eat whole the smaller fish, to satisfy their hunger. This life continued at the river for a long time. I used to see many a time fishermen come with nets, and trap fish and take them away. This I came to know they did, as men eat fish. The fishermen would catch fish of all sizes and sell them. This never frightened me as, I was just too small and could fill no one’s stomach. This thought always kept me and my small colleagues feel safe.…

    feeling of home

The location of my grandparents’ farm is very relaxing for me. As I lay on my bed I started to reminisce about how the farm used to look. The farm was distant from all the noise almost as if deserted from society. It was not a fancy house but everything that surrounded it contributes to that special feeling of home. Every summer when I would visit I remembered that it had a tall burgundy fence around it and a very long path to get to the main house. When I would arrive at the farm, I knew that it was special the smell was something unexplainable and unordinary it is definitely nothing like California. It had a mixture of fresh non polluted air, the smell of pigs and cow manure with a little of the smell of crops my grandpa would grow. My grandparents would receive me with a warming hug and my nice hot meal. As the clock would hit four a.m., I could clearly listen as the roosters sang and the bright warming sun would shine throw my window and strike my eyes. After, I would wake up and would run towards my grandpa’s cotton field, in hale a long breathe of fresh air and just absorbed the sunny day. As I admired the view I was able to see miles and miles of green and brown fields, two red big tractors on the far end of the barn, a chicken coop, most of my grandpa’s animals and on the other side of the house was a small canal. Later that day while I was resting against a lemon tree I could hear my grandpa calling out my name from the barn; he wanted me to help him put the last horse away. When I finished, the bright shinny sun went down and the sky blackened the moon almost shine as bright as a sun illuminating a path from the barn to the house. While we walk down the path there was only silence around us, but it was very relaxing. Almost quiet comforting. I looked up to the sky and saw the stars. They sparkled brighter than usual. Felt like I could jump up and just reach out for one. Everything about my grandparents’ farm is warm and comforting place. It all felt like…
