My Classroom Management Philosophy

This paper will outline my current philosophy of classroom management. It will discuss my plans to create a productive learning environment and how I plan to address student misbehavior. Classroom management strategies are any actions teachers take to create an environment that supports academic and social-emotional learning. Having a philosophy of classroom management is the first step to becoming an effective teacher and building a classroom management model. If you have an idea about how you plan to engage students, as well as address behavior, it will be easier to set up your classroom to support and enhance student learning. My philosophy of classroom management includes clearly stated rules and procedures, along with maximizing allocated, instructional, as well as academic learning time. It emphasizes the importance of communicating caring and involving parents with the student’s education. Rules are an important aspect to classroom management as they set the tone for classroom expectations and conduct. Giving students the ability to decide what rules need to be followed enhances individual responsibility and adherence. Stating rules in a positive way will also help in creating a positive environment. Maximizing time is essential to stay on task and go over prescribed content for the school year.
