I am very committed to any clubs that i join and do work to the best of my ability at all aspects of the task at hand. This is demonstrated by my work in FIRST robotics i have been a part of FIRST robotics since the 5th grade every year learning new things and meeting new people from all over the world. Theses experiences have shaped me to want to be an ambassador to FIRST and other STEM related activities. From 5th to 9th grade I was part of FLL (FIRST lego league)…
Volunteering for service hours changed my outlook on life. I worked with the Hydrocephalus Association in both eleventh and twelfth grade. The Hydrocephalus Association focuses on three things community, clarity, and cure. Hydrocephalus is a condition defined by an abnormal, excessive accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the cavities of the brain. Some people with this condition can live a normal life being unnoticeable while other have difficulties. The association works on awareness to find a cure, clarity in helping families further understand the condition, and a community which will always be supportive. Service hours can sometimes be a hassle but once I started volunteering with that association it became fun because I was…
I “quality controlled” computers, making sure they worked in basic ways before Freegeek put them in their store or gave them to poor schools. It was frustrating at times, as \ some of the computers wouldn’t load, but it was satisfying to go through several computers and make sure they were working properly. It made me feel like I was making a difference for schools and businesses.…
“It is nice to help the community. You speak to these individuals and make a difference. One of the individuals we previously assisted came back and volunteered and said we were the turning point back to the other side,” said Arianna Dicce, a biomedical science junior.…
After being a part of Key Club throughout my high school years, I learned how to give back to the community that has raised me and the conspicuous impact I can have in someone’s life simply through volunteering. Through Key Club, I help create service projects with local organizations and give members of our club an opportunity to volunteer and give back. One experience I will never forget is helping set up a blood drive in school with one of our local organizations, Bloodworks Northwest, a local blood bank that helps saves lives through research, innovation and education in blood. Our Key Club had to inform the school of the event that was happening, and encourage students to donate blood. It required hours of creating posters, informing the…
Some of the things that I am involved with outside of school would be the Make-A-Wish foundation, Tutoring, and activities with my church. I have learned a lot about my self through volunteering with these activities and have grown as a person. I would encourage everyone to try and pick one volunteer group that they feel passionate about and spend time-sharing your talents with it. I know it is something that you will not regret doing.…
Personally, I have been involved in my community since I was in the Boy Scouts of America. As I acsended through to the top rank of Boy Scouts known as an Eagle Scout, many projects were conducted. For example, I have planned and conducted my own Eagle Scout project in 2009; this project consisted of building a roof for my local firehouse. Other community service includes roadside clean-ups, annual earth day events, and fellow Eagle Scout projects. Since my community college career, I have been well involved with our campus and community. Particularly in Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society of all community colleges, where I have become the President of our chapter. Within the society, the objectives include a honor's in action project…
I have been an active participant in community service opportunities with clubs within my school, such as the National Honors Society and Key Club. I also volunteer at the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library weekly. I will continue this work by joining many clubs and organizations that are dedicated to community service. I also plan to continue to volunteer at the library.…
I am involved in a variety of activities such as dance and soccer. Through these, I have learned the importance of teamwork. Also, I have been recognized…
The third program I helped with was a soccer tournament that my fellow Bhutanese immigrants organized between teams from other states. As I volunteered there, I helped prepare food for the players, I picked up the trash, and I gave water to the players after the game. The purpose of the soccer tournament was to have fun and enjoy playing sports. I would like to join a soccer team when I go to high school. In the future, I would like to volunteer in a program that helps people who are facing cancer.…
Volunteering has been one of the biggest joys in my life. I have enjoyed working on the Emerald Coast Mud Run, helping to collect food for Caring and Sharing, helping my mother work on the band uniforms for Niceville High School and C.W. Ruckel Middle School. I look forward to helping others in my family, community, church and school. Whether helping a young mother watch her children so that she is able to go grocery shopping by herself or helping my sister work on her singing. My career goal is to become a veterinarian so I can help animals have healthier lives.…
One thing that I like to do in my free time is volunteer. I have worked with many programs but the one that sticks out with me the most is…
While doing all of these activities inside and outside of school, I have developed a magnificent character. I have developed moral, concerns, and have learned how to respect others. I learned how to lead by example and make positive differences in the world. The four pillars of national honors society have helped me become who i am today and I plan on continue serving my community in my…
Aside from loving working with my hands, I like interacting with people. Every year, I participate in the Big Event, the biggest volunteer event in my school. Last year, I painted the doors in the thrift store. I was in a small group with two freshman students. We helped each other and shared interesting experiences during the work. The volunteer activities gave me a chance to thank my community and developed my communication…
Finally, I have done my part in being a productive citizen in my community. I spend my down time volunteering and helping out. I do not do this because it’s a requirement for graduation but as good deed. Volunteering is a valuable experience that has helped shaping me into a better person.…
