My Defining Moment
I don’t remember the exact dates, but I do remember these moments. There have been numerous times when I realized that I was no longer a child. Two events that have happened were within a year, and I will be writing about those events. The first event that I had realized that I was growing up was when my family decided that we were moving from Arizona back to Colorado. At the time of this event, I was only nine and a half years old, yet I was relieved and sad at the same time because I had just witnessed a fight between two of my friends. After this fight my “friends” were trying to make me choose which one of them to be friends with and drop the other one, They both would do whatever they could to try and be the friend that I “kept”. …show more content…
I got the cell phone come time before my tenth birthday. My parents said that we get the phones because my sister and I were gonna be going to different schools, but personally I think it’s because they thought we were mature enough for phones. We both got an iPhone 4, I got a white iPhone and my sister got a black iPhone 4. Unfortunately, we learned that Lifeproof cases aren’t as durable as they say they are, because my sister broke at least five iPhones. One of the times that my sister, Kryssa, had broken her phone was in the 7th grade, she had dropped her phone running away from a bull snake that happened to be in the field by the portables. Kryssa was running and her phone was in her hoodie pocket and it fell face down onto the concrete. Later that day, when my sister came home I was extremely surprised when she showed me her screen. The screen was completely shattered, there were cracks where there was missing glass, parts of the camera showing, but the case wasn’t cracked, although it was scratched in places. After the two year plan was up on the phones my parents decided to upgrade us to Samsung phones. Because of the numerous accidents my parents decided, even though my sister didn’t agree, that iPhones were way too expensive and a waste of money like hoverboards. I knew then that I was growing up because my parent had started trusting me more and

Most of my friends’ parents would say: “ She is way to young for that. My kid is not getting a phone till she enters high school.” My parents, on the other hand, disregarded what other parents had said and thought it was a great idea and an opportunity for me to earn their trust. It was also an opportunity for me to show responsibility. My Mom and Dad told me a few dozen times, “This is a huge responsibility to have your own cell phone.” Having a phone at such a young age along with more rules that I was not sure I was ready for, such as: keep your phone on loud at all times, make sure you answer our calls the first time we call, be sure to charge your phone every night, and lastly do not lose it. My parents also told me: “If you break any of the rules that we gave you, me or your dad will take your cell phone away for a week.” My worse fear was that I would forget to charge my phone or even worse, miss a call from my parents. Thankfully, I never broke any of the rules that they gave me so I never had my phone taken away. Since I did not break the rules. I was soon rewarded with another new phone. It was the Motorola Razor. It was pink, of course, my favorite color and it was the “it” phone at the time. I loved that phone! Two years went by and soon I was rewarded with a brand new white iPhone for Christmas. With it came a phone case and a note. The note said: “Always keep this case on the phone at all times. If I see it with out a case I will take it from you and you will not get it back for 2 months.” I thought that was an easy rule to follow since the case was so cute I would not want to take it off but, all my friends soon got iPhone 4s and they did not have cases on them and I liked the way their phones looked, so I took my case off. When I got home from school, however, I would immediately put the case back…

Looking back now at the first few years of my life I myself cannot say I remember too much of anything that happened in my life. Asking those who were my caretakers at that time of my life most everyone of them said that I was a pretty normal child and that I developed in the timespans that are expected for children to grow. My mom said that I was a very sleepy child and whenever I was tired I would just fall asleep. She also told me that when I was awake I was very outgoing and energetic and said that I would try to imitate just about anything that her or anyone else would be doing around me.…

    Passage Into Adulthood

Most cultures we know today require a person to be a certain age before they can be classified as an adult. Some other cultures might see how well a person performs at a certain given task before they can see them as mature men or women; in the poem "Jabberwocky" the father tries to coach his son and trying to get him ready for the task he must complete and after he kills the Jabberwocky his father hugs him because his boy is now a man. Many people also tend to think that adulthood comes through puberty. What I believe though my personal experience is that you become an adult through experiences and the understanding of life. In my opinion age doesn't play a central role in determining whether you have grown up or not.…

    Coming of Age

My first step in my coming of age was traveling to Europe with my aunt and uncle. Firstly, I was not with my parents which made me feel more self-reliant. This was my first time riding on a plane and traveling for more than a week without my parent so at the time it seemed like a big deal. I felt that because I was not being watched over as heavily, I was more responsible and was growing up. Secondly, I was starting to travel the world for the first time and it made me think of my future. It reminded me that when I was old enough, there were going to be endless possibilities to what I could accomplish and where I could go. This is definitely an important step in growing up. Realizing that you need to start preparing for your future and start to figure out what you want to do and where you want to go. Lastly, I made new older friends that made me feel like I was growing up and expanding my “bubble”. The people I met were older then I was and were so friendly. I felt more mature around them. Meeting new people if all part of “coming of age”. This is why traveling to Europe was the first step for me to start maturing and to start coming of age.…

For me I did not realize I was different until I began to get older, probably about four or five and had trouble finding thing. I really don’t remember much about my early childhood, mostly what my family has told me. I do remember however, that I was my daddy and grandma’s shadow; where ever they were, I was right behind them. We had a farm, and I loved going to the barn with them to milk the cows, and to feed the chickens and gather the eggs. I loved being outside. I was a little tomboy.…
