My Sun Devil Story Hello my name is Tyler Cowan, I am from Brea California. I graduated from Brea Olinda high school in 2014. I am here attending ASU because I want to get a new geographic look at life. I am in the W.P Carey School of Business because I am unsure of what I want to do with my life but I know that business will play a significant part in what I choose to do. Since I have moved to Arizona I have been bombarded by questions like, “Why did you move from California” and “You seriously chose ASU over a California school?!” I chose Arizona for three reasons. The first is that I wanted to get out of the “orange county bubble”. The second was I did not have a certain major in mind when choosing college so I couldn’t search for one with a specialty in that major. ASU though was excellent in many areas so I would have a wide variety of good majors to choose from if I needed. The third was I wanted to become more independent while still being able to have support. For most of my life I was always guided in school and most of my decisions were made for me or heavily persuaded by my parents. I knew that going to Arizona would give me the chance to really find myself and establish the man I wanted to be in life. One reason I didn’t come though surprisingly was to party which is also why I am here at west campus. Unlike most people at west I don’t have a focus within my business major that is because I am still undecided in what I want to do in my life. I do realize business is important in any industry. One of my ideas for my major was to study mechanical engineering and minor in business. I got this idea after doing an internship at Edwards Life science this last summer. I shadowed and assisted the quality and supply part of Edwards, I also with the help of my advisor got to have eight one-on-one sessions with engineers. I do see myself later in on in life being in a large company being in
