My mom has a gluten allergy and whenever she goes out to a restaurant she usually must look at a gluten-free menu or find something that she can have there. Well, the first few times we went my mom ordered an entrée that came with a salad and she asked what dressings were gluten-free. Whenever she asks servers this question she always gets a weird, surprised, and sometimes judgmental look. Even
if they’re helpful in finding one that is it always tends to bother my mom, but she tries to not show that it affects her. And I thought about it and some of these reactions from servers could be because of her race and color or even her gender. I mean my mom is white and they may think she is being picky and stuck-up about what she wants to order instead of listening and understanding that she has an allergy that could kill her if they aren’t careful. Because of all of the times that servers weren’t careful she has had problems with her organs and her organs will practically continue eating themselves if servers keep being careless.
Another experience I had when I was there was this past time. It was on a Sunday after I went to church and the televisions were on in the Tavern and the Bears were playing Another difference between the day and the night is when something big happens in a game during the day it is “normal” to celebrate and be loud. But when it’s at night people tend to be quiet and not cheer they tended to only clap once or twice compared to in the daytime when the people/fans were yelling and cheering. And if you do cheer at night people tend to have a judgmental look directed towards you. When I was in there during the day the servers I noticed tend to be friendlier and more upbeat compared to at night. Almost as if the workers during the day wanted to work there and the workers at night didn’t.
