In addition, one of my job duties was to assist patients with menu selections, which I enjoyed greatly. This was a valuable experience because it refined my communication skills. Speaking with patients individually was difficult as some patients did not want to speak or they had difficulty speaking. Therefore, it required skills and practice to finish the work properly. During my time volunteering, one of the most important lessons I have learned is being patient. For example, I am willing to spend more time with people in need in order to provide supportive services to them. Furthermore, I gained working experience in custom service, which shaped me to be more understanding and compassionate toward others. Moreover, this experience helped me to develop a bedside manner, which is important in my future career. To explore myself widely in the world of dietetics, I also volunteered at a long-term care facility, White Blossom Care Center. There, I worked closely with a registered dietitian.
