experiences as a writer. Some of the opportunities I have had recently are writing in my
Fundamentals to Writing online class. I also keep a journal of my daily activities and thoughts. I
think my most favorite type of writing would have to be free writing by blogging on social
networks such as Facebook..
Writing brings out a variety of emotions in me. I feel anxious sometimes when I
write and I tend to have a lot of self-doubt. I will ask questions about how the reader will
understand what I am trying to say. I go over my writing and correct spelling and grammar if
needed. When I feel deep emotions whether happy, sad or angry, I try to put those feelings and
emotions into words to describe how I feel at that time. This is one of the reasons I love the
form of free writing poetry. My daily journal also seems to help me get these emotions out.
I feel very happy when I receive positive compliments on my writing. For
example, before my Aunt passed away, I would write her letters and send her cards on special
occasions. She would call me on the phone and in a her sweet feeble voice, she would tell me
how nicely written they were and she would add with excitement, "so neatly written"! In
high school, I will never forget how my English teacher boasted about how proud she was of me
and how far I had come throughout the year.
When I reach the point of what you may call "writers block", I feel very anxious
and of course frustrated. It is hard when I become distracted by outside influences and cannot
figure out what I am trying to say and how to say it. It is especially hard for me to put
particular events in order, as I have trouble with organization and have short
term memory. I cannot seem to remember certain dates on a particular subject. However, I
am so grateful that my experiences in writing have
