My Experience At Mercy Wound Clinic
After completing my first week on externship, I have learned and experienced so much already. I have experienced things that I enjoyed and experienced things that I have not enjoyed. They showed me where the scrubs were and walked me around the building and introduced me to everyone. When I got placed with SM, she told me she was a Kaplan student who did her externship here and they hired her one afterwards. After hearing that, I just kept thinking, “I need to make a great impression!” 8:00am rolls around and the first patient comes into the office. This day I was able to walk in more comfortable and confident. As the first half of the day went on, we took care of patients that needed help with their wounds. But as the second half of the day went on, we had patients that had incontinence issues and needed help! I had no idea the wound clinic was part of the incontinent clinic as well. After watching the different steps with each issue, I realized that they are pretty much the same thing. We need to take the vitals, get the patient comfortable until the doctor comes into see the patient. All that is different is that there are different instruments needed. One things that I did realize was that we are not drawing anyone’s blood or giving shots; which kind of bums me out. I wish I was able to get practice in

Omar Bradley once said, “If we continue to develop our technology without wisdom or prudence, our servant may prove to be our executioner.” In the 1950’s people felt much fear because there was tension between America and the Soviet Union for a nuclear war. Rad Bradbury wrote science fiction stories about what could happen in the future if this was taken to an extreme. The science fiction story, “There Will Come Soft Rains,” by Ray bradbury, shows a world in which an atomic bomb has killed everyone and a technologically advanced house keeps going. The Soviet Union and America were in a standoff but no one really fought.…

They had already attended 74 patients before I arrived in the afternoon to begin my job shadow. Since the workers have a lot of experience, it was easy for them to go through the list of patients quickly. It also surprised me that they had a portable x-ray, and it was the first time I got to see one. The x-ray was used for patients who cannot stand or leave their rooms due to problems they have. Being able to observe an x-ray being done in a patient's room was very interesting.…

As a clinic nurse, me and my coworkers would arrive before the doctor to set up the clinic. We will get exam tables ready and in position, checking otoscope and ophthalmoscope lights for ear and eye tests, turning on computers and getting charts ready for the day. Clinic nurses check height, weight and other vitals and then get details of the patient’s injury or illness – whatever brought them to the clinic that day. Then that information is then passed on to the doctor. After patients meet with the doctor, clinic nurses handle follow-up tests like MRIs, X-rays and set-up appointments with specialists. RN nurses must also have a blend of less-easily taught skills. Although there are plenty of male nurses, women still make up the most of the nursing profession. I can take my education as far as I want to and most hospitals will foot some of the bill. This will be the better choice I could ever make, because I would love everything about my job and do it with…

The story of the emergence and overwhelming manifestation of African American Religion is rooted in the memoirs of the enslaved. Religion aided in innumerable pivotal roles in the progression and acceptance of American people and the African American church. Christianity, astoundingly, became the focal point of African American culture, despite the awareness that their oppressors had previously used the same doctrines of Christianity against them to justify 300+ years of slavery, genocide, and rape. The elucidation of why Christianity was so successful is beyond what any one book could bother to grasps. Albert Raboteau’s Canaan Land valiantly takes the charge to convey the often neglected narrative of the African American religious experience and it’s awe-inspiring capacity to instill meaning, hope, and dignity within a people(x).…
