My Experience with College Life
So far, the college experience has made me a changed person. College changed me into a better person on many occasions. I have learned to be more responsible, when it comes down to getting work done. In college you must be responsible. I have also changed my attitude. Moving from high school to college is a big step; if you don't change your ways for the better then you might not be successful in college. When you reach college then is the time that you become an adult.
First off, the college life has changed me for the better. I am much more responsible in many different ways. I had to change my study habits, or should I say I have to get study habits. I high school I never studied, because everything came so easy to me and I could just do the work and end up with passing grades. When I reached college I tried to do the same thing and it didn't work. I had to start studying on a daily basis and it was hard to go from not doing any work to studying every night and on the weekends, I wasn't use to that, but I had to make it a habit or I was not going to make it. Going to school everyday was not a problem because my parents made me go everyday, my major change was my study habits.
Secondly, the main thing is to be responsible and make the right decisions. In college you have to make decisions and it is hard. Peer pressure come in hard when you get to college, for example you could have a test that you need to study for and there is a party that you want to go to, and all of your friends are going, nine times out of ten you are going to go to the party and say that you're going to study later, but you never get to study, and then you fail the test. That's just one example, there are many more. Another reason college is a big step is because you're on your own, and you don't have nobody to tell you what to do, you make your own decisions when it has to deal with getting up early in the morning to go to class, you have your parents or anyone to wake

College is much different from my high school in so many ways. In my high school we was always on the same routine. We had four periods a day and first period started at 7:45 and we was on a block schedule meaning our classes was an hour and thirty minutes long. We had the same classes everyday so more learning during the day and less homework. Immediately after school we had football practice four days a week and played on Fridays. High school Is a good preparation for college, even though while in high school you will never expect what happens in college. In high school your parents were more involved in what go on in your daily life, whether you get in trouble in class or you get sick at lunch.…

High school classes might have seemed better in the past compared to college. You might feel more comfortable in smaller classes than you would heading off to university, but that is simply from the comfort of your surroundings. You are familiar with your teachers and your closest friends are always by your side. This might create a friendlier environment, but branching away from the only things you have ever known will help you grow as an individual. Leaving home to start your life as an adult can be tough; however, learning every day responsibilities and making new relationships are two things that will benefit anyone who is getting ready to enter the “real world.” Students benefit more from college classes over high school classes because they learn responsibilities and create new relationships which help them to gain independence.…

A benefit to me personally by attending college is one getting to know one’s self. During the time you’re at college you get a chance to learn more about what you like and don’t like, or you start to see how you want to mold your life. Robert Feldman, author of P.O.W.E.R. Learning: Strategies for Success and Life, says “Your college education provides you with a compass to discover who you are, where you’ve been, and where you’re going.” When I first came to college I wanted to major in…

College is the first step into adult hood. You are no longer forced to listen to instructions and do homework. But of course not doing so, can result to consequences. These years for me were like a roller coaster. The highs, lows and standstills made me learning responsibility, because I had no one to blame, everything that went wrong was all on me. Despite the challenges I made the best of every situation and pushed forward. With my college challengges I can relate to Cox, Green and Bellafante on serval levels.…

Have you changed since you started college? “Does Coming to College Mean Becoming Someone New?” by Kevin Davis talks about his journey through college and how the school system made him hate what he thought he loved. The question arose in his article: do you become someone different when you arrive at college? Through my experience here at SUNY Oswego for the first year, I would say you definitely learn to think differently when it comes to your major. This is not always a bad thing, in fact, it’s a positive benefit. Thinking differently and more critically about things helps you grow as a person. Myself being a broadcasting major, watching TV is very hard for me now. Coming to college changes your outlook on your major or field, yourself and even life in general.…

The most comprehensive review to date on the question of the impact of college is found in Ernest Pascarella and Patrick Terenzini's book, How College Affects Students. They used over twenty-six thousand practical studies completed over a period of 50 years in order to what aspects of a person's life is affected during college. They concluded that an individual's cognitive skills and intellectual growth; changes of identity, self-concept, and self-esteem; changes in relating to others and the people around them, attitudes and values, moral development, career choice and development, economic benefits, and quality of life after college are all affected while the student attends college.…

There’s much more freedom, and time were you get to do what you want to do. Even though college costs way more you’re not obligated to go to classes, if you don’t want to go you don’t have too. “In high school, you're told what classes to take. In college, you get to choose; that is, as long as the classes don't conflict and you have the prerequisites and the classes aren't closed and you've paid your tuition” (Tang). There’s also a lot more responsibility that goes with this freedom. You get to choose if you want to stay in and do your homework on a Thursday night or go to a party. You don’t have your parents standing over your shoulder. The professors won’t give you extra time; they have a deadline and if you don’t have it in, it will be late and you can’t get around that. College is your first real taste at freedom, you get to be on your own. Some people prefer to be with their parents and have them do everything for them.…

It brings people out of their comfort zones personally, whereas academically, people get to focus more on what they are good at. In my case, it will be a challenge to adapt to the college environment at the same time that it will be very comfortable to finally study subjects that truly interest me. This exciting challenge is the main reason I want to go to college. Most people want to go to college to get a degree and earn a lot of money, which leads them to more expensive and selective colleges.
