My Favorite Movie: Stomp the Yard
Stomp the Yard: My favorite Movie
There are millions of movies that have caught my attention. To choose between
Drumline and Stomp the Yard were very hard. However, Stomp the Yard is by far one of the best captivating and entertaining movie I have ever watched. This movie is about an inner city krump dancer, DJ, who moves to Atlanta, Georgia for a fresh start. In the movie, DJ role is arrogant, over-confident, and determine to win the heart of April Palmer. The plot of the movie is so entertaining and touching that I could watch it everyday. First, this is my favorite movie because it focuses on responsibility and determination. Secondly, it shows how one person can not be above everyone else, it takes teamwork. Lastly, the movie shows how a man is to appreciate and treat the lady he loves. First, Stomp the Yard demonstrates responsibility and determination that makes this movie so real and interesting. DJ got arrested for fighting, whereas his younger brother got killed. DJ’s mother want a better life for him, subsequently sent him to live with his aunt Jackie.
In spite of DJ’s past, he decided to live his brother’s Duron dream to attend Truth University, join a fraternity, and step on the line. When he was face with the challenge of expulsion, DJ frat brother agreed to find a way for him to stay in school so he could go to competition. In the end,
DJ was taught responsibility and became a well-developed young man. This movie inspire one to never give up on his/her goals and to learn how to have self-control. Secondly, the movie gears on the power of teamwork. In the movie, DJ thinks that he can show off how well he could step. DJ didn’t back down from no battles, and very arrogant.
During a face off against their rival, Mu Gammi, DJ assume he could win the battle by showboating. In turn, they loose and DJ’s Theta step crew discuss the importance of unity. By the end of the movie, Theta Mu Theta win the National stepping

In Fannie Flagg’s esteemed novel, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café, characters and lessons from both the past and present inspire our main character, Evelyn Couch, to make changes in her life. The epitome of middle-aged misery and menopausal depression, Evelyn learns lessons from the stories and advice given to her by characters such as Mrs. Virginia ‘Ninny’ Threadgoode help her lift the veil of gloom cloaking her and aid her in reestablishing her dreams and goals – such as gaining a healthier and happier marriage with her husband, Ed, or losing all her unnecessary pounds. What sparks her journey to this better life, one she can actually look forward to at night rather than considering suicide, are the stories of a small Alabama town in the 1930’s and the residents who fight for happiness in a difficult time; Evelyn takes these stories of times past and uses the morals and advice given by Ninny to face each of her problems and attack every day with confidence. The transformation Evelyn embarks on is a sign of how strong she, or anyone, can be when their head is in the game, and as we see Idgie still selling her foods at the end of the book, we conclude that the past can live on even into the present.…

The idea a forced choice can still show identity is inaccurate and irrelevant when reflecting on The Street Sweeper and Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. In the short story Brother Dear, Bernice Friesen introduces the antagonistic relationship a parent and child share when they do not see eye to eye in terms of success. Greg and his father struggle through difficulty as Greg is caught in the midst of what his father wants him to do as appose to what he wants for himself. The conflict that exists between Greg and his Father proves that parents should allow their children to discover and follow their dreams, rather than forcing them upon their own wishes. In addition, the author suggests that success can come in various forms, but each form is unique to each person. Therefore when parents deny their kids’ ambition to achieve something, they only create dissatisfaction and despair.…

There were many examples of how the characters in the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes" manifested power in and through their lives. One example of this is with the character Big George. He was a black man who lived in the town. He also did the barbeque at the Whistle Stop Cafe. A big example of how he manifested power was through his dealings with racism. This movie took place in the 1930's, a time period where the black race was greatly looked down upon and thought to be lesser than white people. This could also be seen when Idgie's friend tells her he has to bring her to Georgia the next day because she is being convicted of Frank Bennett's murder. He basically tells her to pack up and leave the town so she is not arrested and also tells her to leave Big George in the town to get arrested because the people wanted to have someone hung for the crime, and they would rather have it be a black man than a white woman. So because of these biases, Big George had to find the power within him to overcome these obstacles and to live a decent life, despite the hardships he had to face on a daily basis because of his skin color. Big George also found power within his own family and even with Idgie. So, by combining their determination and strength with his own, Big George was able to overcome the barriers of racism.…
