My First Entry To My Log Of The Ice Cube
This is my first entry to my log of the Ice Cube experiment. I have yet to kickstart my new, or soon-to-be addiction; however, I am quite apprehensive with the entire situation at hand. The thought of having to continuously put in a conscious effort of consuming ice doesn’t seem too appealing in my opinion. Likewise, I’m also fearful of the looks and judgement I may get from onlookers who are unaware of the experiment. All in all, I will commit to this experiment to my fullest extent, regardless of my initial apprehension.
Entry 2) I have began introducing ice cubes into my daily tasks. I’m not quite certain of the rules yet: should I refill my drink with ice if it has melted, but is still cold to the touch? I’ve decided that it would be wisest

The plastic tablet that gets placed into the water causes the water to spin like a tornado. Then when dry ice is added the water starts to spin and create smoke, the color of the water goes from dark green to light green. There is probably a chemical in the dry ice that is reacting with the universal indicator which is causing the substance to change colors. Hydrochloric acid changes the color of the mixture and makes it green to yellow but when you add more hydrochloric acid then the first time the color becomes darker and eventually turn purple. The hydrochloric acid reacts with the solution and makes the colors change, when you add more than a certain amount the color becomes darker.…

The two types of ice that are encountered during flight are clear and rime. Clear ice is formed when the remaining liquid fragments of the water drop flows over the aircraft surface, constantly freezing as a smooth layer of solid ice. Forming occurs when droplets are bigger, such as in heavy rain or in thunderstorm clouds. Clear ice is solid, hard, heavy, and cohesive. Removing it by deicing equipment is very challenging.…

There are many different theories and conclusions about the death of the Iceman. Konrad Spindler, who led the team studying the body, concluded that Iceman was a shepherd living in a farming community close to the Val Venosta. Iceman was well equipped for long absences and his general health was good although he did have some health problems. Most scholars’ opinions however, are conflicted about how and why he died.…

Scientists and archaeologists have come with different techniques of analyzing the Iceman’s blood, bone, DNA, and stomach contents, enabling them to make observations and studies on his various diseases, considering that the Iceman was found to have been of poor health. They also noted his social status through his copper axe and all his other accessories and tools. In addition to that, they made specific studies according to the different aspects of his body; his teeth that determined his diet mainly composed of grain, and his hair that confirms his vegetarian-based diet before his death. They also determined his age, height, and weight. He was said to have been 1.5 meters, weighing 50 kilograms, and is around 25-35 years old at the time of…

When Abraham Lincoln was elected president and vowed to abolish slavery, he promised that he had “no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists” (Source C). However, South Carolina did not believe in his ideas of slavery and chose to secede on December 20, 1860 along with six other states, which are Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. They seceded because the secessionists thought that the new Republican administration would subvert the right of southern slaveholders to carry their human property into the territories (pg. 407), but they did not believe that Lincoln would not interfere with slavery where it already existed. Due to the strong belief that…

This activity helped the children understand that temperature can affect the state of a substance as it showed that the water was liquid in room temperature but turned to solid ice in the colder temperature of the freezer which is important when following the national curriculum for science as it states that children should be taught to 'compare and group materials together, according to whether they are solids, liquids or gases and to observe that some materials change state when they are heated or cooled, and measure or research the temperature at which this happens in degrees Celsius (°C)'. I know that this worked because during the activity I asked the children around the room what the temperature needs to be like to melt the ice to water and water to ice, I asked which was the liquid and which was the solid and I what would happen to the water when we put it in the freezer.…

At first, scientists imagined that the iceman was caught in a heavy snowstorm, fell asleep and froze to death. Konrad Spindler theorised and published in this 1995 book titled 'The Man in the Ice', that the iceman was a Sheppard from a nearby Neolithic village that had escaped from a barbaric raid. Spindlers theories were biased off the Iceman's age, strong physique, clothing and equipment, and place of death which is nearby a popular route that Sheppard's would follow for their flocks to graze.…

It was a cold snowy morning on the frozen shores of Lake Superior. I unloaded all of my ice fishing supplies from my truck and back my ATV out of the trailer. The ice was at least a foot thick by this time of year according to the people in town more than safe enough for the trip out on the lake. I gassed up my ATV and strapped down all my gear and headed out to my shanty. Trying to navigate in these conditions is very treacherous having only a general idea on the whereabouts of my shanty is would be difficult. Finally, the weather cleared for a few minutes allowing me to spot my shanty that was luckily still standing. I unlocked the door and fired up my ice drill which drilled through the ice like a hot knife through butter.I turned on my heater and waited for it to warm up which felt like an eternity in the frigid winter temperatures that hovered around zero and the biting wind outside made it almost unbearable. I waited for my father and his brothers to arrive with the…

Nowadays it seems that we live in an image-obsessed society where people are solely judged on their physical appearance. Everyone seems to be obsessed with the Hollywood celebrity style image. By sitting at home flipping through the channels of your television set, you're faced with watching celebrities which seem flawless even almost perfect. Many people, mostly teenagers, look up to these celebrities and Hollywood figures. They see these idols of theirs which happen to have a "so called" perfect body and face and they want to have that as well. The growing trend of teenagers turning to cosmetic plastic surgery to change or improve their physical appearance is rapidly growing. Several reality TV shows such as The Swan, I Want A Famous Face, Nip Tuck, and Dr. 90210 are just some, not all, of the influences out there giving teenagers a greater desire to achieve a certain look through plastic surgery. Teenagers should not be allowed to undergo cosmetic surgery for several reasons. Many young teens are still developing both their state of mind and body. They simply are not ready to make a decision that drastic. Plastic surgery is a permanent procedure which will affect them for the rest of their lives.…
